what should stevie cover?
Hi everyone,
So I'm brand new to the Ledge (although I've been a bit of a lurker) and I thought I'd start a new thread...my apologies if its been done. Stevie has done already done at least couple of covers (At Last, Just like a woman) and my question is: If Stevie would cover absolutely any song, what would you want it to be? I'll kick it off: I Put a Spell on You (weeellllllllllllllllll beacuse you're mine.....) |
Okay you guys, so this is my famous friend who is not famous. She has been loitering around this site for months now and has FINALLY posted something. We are sitting together opening night!
She should totally cover Wishing Well by Terrence Trent D'arby wish me love a wishing welllllllllllllllllll to kiss and tell a wishing welllllllllllllllllll of butterfly tears wish me love a wishing welllllllllllllllllllll to kiss and tell a wishing welllllllllllll of crocodile cheers Can you even imagine how funny that would be? |
I want her to cover Total Eclipse, or Bette Davis Eyes. :p

Those would be good. Not sure if she could do justice to Eclipse anymore, though. I'd love her to do a Heart tune. These Dreams would be nice, mainly cuz it was offered to her first & she turned it down. Alone would rock, but again, vocally... Live To Tell by Madonna just popped into my head, for some reason. |

Many years ago, I would have liked to hear Stevie cover "Some People" by Cliff Richard. |
Nothing, do your own stuff, but if im dreaming
Hmmmm how about Lust To Love by the Go Go's, or Runaway Horses or Nobody Owns Me by Belinda War Child by Blondie The Victim or Tuff Life by Pat Benatar Wild Child, Break, Even It Up, or Kick It Out by Heart |
I heard this on the radio yesterday- and I NEVER listen to the radio...but the feather in the wind part...SOOOO Stevie....this whole song should be hers!
ALL MY LOVE - LED ZEPPELIN should I fall out of love, my fire in the night, to chase a feather in the wind; within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight there moves a thread that has no end. For many hours and days that pass ever soon, the tides have caused the flame to dim. At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom. Is this to end or just begin? Chorus: All of my love, all of my love, oh, all of my love to you, now. All of my love, all of my love, all of my love to you, now. The cup is raised, the toast is maade yet again; one voice is clear above the din. Proud Arian one word, my will to sustain. For me, the cloth once more to spin. Oh. repeat chorus Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time, his is the force that lies within. Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find. He is a feather in the wind. Oh. repeat chorus and fade |
For me, most of those song cover suggestions sound like a train wreck/career-credibility killer for Stevie. There are so many older, better quality songs out there!!
I just want Stevie to cover herself. I hope I never hear her covering contemporary schlock. (She never will!) It's a little short-sighted to want to see her covering newer songs from her contemporaries and near-comptemporaries. However, "I Put I Spell on You" and older, seasoned classics and obscurities would suit her. An Otis Redding tune would be nice, or something along those lines. When I hear them, there are a few songs that I think, "Wow, this song would be great for Stevie (or Fleetwood Mac) to cover." But of course, I can't remember them now!!! |
