Eagles Show Providence 03/19/2005

Just a few quick notes from the show on Saturday.

They did end up releasing better seats too but they still were not what I wanted. Hey, for $125.00+ I should be picky.

My seat was behind the stage and it was obstructed by the stage set up. They did have large screens set up which really were not far from us so we could 'watch' the show. The problem that I had with that was I might as well have been at a Hard Rock Cafe watching a video or something.
I did not feel like I was at a live concert.

They all sounded great but Joe Walsh was the best part of the show. During "Lifes Been Good" he put a construction helmet and it had a camera inside it. He was going around getting crowd shots. Crazy, I mean ' Helmet Cam" it sounds like something from the David Letterman show.
The crowd was mixed and they either used JW's songs for a pee break or they went wild. I found out today that he has his own fan club and does Meet and Greets for a reserved number of them at different shows. I think that Lindsey needs to do something like this! :blob2:

If Joe does a solo tour I am so there. The second half was filled with solo material from the band members. Don Henley is a great singer and sounds almost exactly like he does on the CD. He is kind of boring however. I really doubt that I will see a Stevie/Don bill. "Dirty Laundry" was a highlight, however.

There was also a barricade up in front of the stage. I am sure that if Henley does a solo tour one will be up. Another words maybe being front row for a Stevie solo show won't be the same as being front row for a Mac show.

I left about 3 songs before the show ended because I wanted to avoid the crowds and I was hungry. It was about 11:15PM and I figured that I would go to the Westin and get some food. Well, they looked at me like I had 8 heads. No, sorry we don't have a place open for food. I think that is crazy but hey that is my stupid city for you.

The show was good overall but they just aren't Fleetwood Mac.

Wow Pattie does that mean you missed Tequila Sunrise and Hotel California, Joe Walsh is such a character I saw The Eagles last concert over here in Australia last December and they went off, I absolutely loved it even though I didn't know much of The Eagles music, it was soo much fun except for this drunk guy next to me who kept hitting me in the head....but he was taken away after three songs.

I totally got the live show vibe and I was sitting quite far back.

Don't you hate it when someone spoils it for you? There were 2 older people fighting because one was smoking when we were inside a non-smoking place which is everyplace in RI now.

I only missed 3 songs but those weren't the ones.

Yer this guy, my mate went to shake his hand because he was enjoying himself so much and it was funny to see...and when he went to shake his hand he is like "oi, don't touch me mate!" and yer it was funny, but I am 16 and there were lots of old people around all sitting down and wouldn't even let us clap, infact near the end one guy threatened to "ram his fist down our throats if we don't shut up", we call him 'Pink Ramfist' because he was wearing a pink shirt hehe.

But even still I loved the event and the feeling of a packed out concert. I try to make the ebst of every situation, hell...I even got in to D12 when I saw them!

 I got some dirty looks from the older couple next to me when I yelled when Glenn Frey said that it was good to be in Providence. I think that they were from Massachusetts  I also yelled when Glenn introduced Joe Walsh. I don't think the same couple were Joe Walsh fans either.

I think that some people just go to a concert to see how many beers they can drink. I don't think that I will go see a show in Providence for a long time.

Joe Walsh is the best part of the show. Everyone else is rather boring. The last song was probably Desparado. I'm not sure what other songs you might have missed but nothing too special.

You're making me wish that I had went ahead, bit the bullet, spent the money and gone and to see them. Glad you had a good time!

Eh. Like Pattie said, they're no Mac. I saw them 2 years ago, sounds like they're still doing the exact same show. They sounded great & all, but I was a bit bored watching them stand on the stage not moving (with the exception of Walsh -he's a nut.) I guess LB running around the stage at Mac shows spoiled me. :D

And Henley has better songs than "All she wants to do if dance" and "dirty laundry". Why he insists on doing those, I have no clue. Boy of Summer - of course. It's one of my faves of all time. The other two - blech. -_-

The fact that they didn't do Ol' 55 or Seven Bridges Road pissed me off too.

Glad you had fun despite the crappy seats & crappy people, Pattie! :wavey:

Ahh...gotcha. At least FM added and dropped songs as the tour went on and weren't a total 100% nostalgia trip. Of course, they had an album to promote. The Eagles haven't had anything since the whole "Hole In The World" bit, yes?

Ahh...I love Dirty Laundry....it's just a really fun song but if he's standing there like a total stiff, I could see how it wouldn't be all that exciting. No New York Minute??

From what I have read on an Eagles message board they did do some brand new songs at the beginning of this east coast tour in early March. They have since dropped those songs.

I agree Dirty Laundry is a fun song and it was a highlight. Actually most of the solo stuff that they did was pretty enjoyable.

The Eagles also had a VIP package kind of like Fleetwood Mac's and I believe that it was first come first served for the better seats. I found out too late about the package.

They were about $200.00 for row 1-20 and $400.00 for row 1-10 and it was a blind sale. You got a buffet with the $400.00 package.
I just pulled up a 10 row ticket for The Borgata as we speak

Thanks for the review Pattie. I'm suprised they even had seats behind the stage! That's kinda ****ty, I don't think I've ever seen that before. I've always wanted to see the Eagles. From what I hear, they put on a good show, but sound pretty generic, alot like the CDs. I'd still like to see them....

Hmm...that's odd...then again, maybe they tried them and based on audience interaction, didn't feel they should use them in the setlist?

I'm still debating the Borgata but no one really wants to go and i'm certainly not going by myself to AC (not fun by yourself). I don't care to be close--i'd just like to see them once.

I was in the highest section at the side of the stage. Trust me, cheap seats are fine. The Eagles are all about hearing the harmonies, rather than seeing them up close.

I am seeing the Eagles next Friday at Continental Arena in East Ruterford, NJ. I have 19th row floor. Hope it is worth it!!
