Sad Stevie Sighting
From the nicksfix:
In an article on nbc4tv.com about an Army Ranger's dog the following sighting was found: "Sara Poet of the Heart is the canine companion of Army Ranger Nick Lozano, who shattered his spine during a training jump. The dog, whose name was inspired by the Fleetwood Mac song, escaped Feb. 5 from the Best Western Oxnard Inn on Oxnard Boulevard. The lost dog was found Tuesday after she was struck by a car." That's the saddest sighting entry I've ever read. Laura |
:( :distress:  That is sad.

But the dog didn't die...we'll get an update tomorrow on her condition - but it is very sad...poor baby.... :(
Take some time to know the real story.... You can click on those "images" links for a little slide show.... Barbara and John Kerkhoff found the dog. They are among many volunteers who searched for the dog. "I wish she wasn't in the condition she's in," said John Kerkhoff. "I feel let down. You have to do the best you can for animals and humans." Veterinarians said the dog suffered a spinal cord injury. They are uncertain whether she will regain mobility. The dog was hospitalized and given medication to reduce the pain. Sara is trained to open doors and other tasks, such as alerting Lozano when he must take his medications. "My son has said, since she had the spinal cord injury, he didn't want her to suffer," said Lozano's mother, Mary. "But there are a lot of people out there who want to save her." The family says the dog's health condition is being evaluated over the weekend. Check back on Monday for an update. We will post the update as soon as it is made available. |
that just broke my heart!!!~ my dog is like a child 2 me~ b4 i had this puppy tho i had another weanie dog which is a distant cousin 2 my puppy now, my other dog i had 4 12 years~ she 2 got a spinal cord injury, from chasing our cat, she turned the wrong way 2 nip @ the cat & did very serious damage paralyzing he from the hips down, was most tragic, didn't know how i was gonna make it thru~ unfortunately i had 2 put my doggie 2 sleep, they did offer a operation where she would have 2 b flown almost like doggie life-flight 2 ames, iowa where she could have spinal surgery, but it would cost 6000.00 & the % wasn't good 4 a total recovery or use of her legs again, the thought of putting her thru that, was just too hard, so i had 2 say goodbye~ no matter how many pets i have in my life, that was the best dog & i will never 4get her, she still comes 2 me in my dreams, so i know she is safely waiting @ "rainbow bridge"~

Wow, that's really really sad...I recently had to have my dog put down this summer...it was one of the saddest moments of my life. She was a 7yr old Rottweiler, and I had had her since I was eight. But she had bad hips and it got to the point that she couldn't walk without crying.
I'll never forget you Bandit  ~Marissa~ |
Here's an update - to quote the Holy Grail, she's "doing much bettah!"
