TUSK... extended version ?????
 

A couple of months back the radio was playing in the room next and I heard the announcer introduce 'Tusk'.
Although I couldn't hear it properly, I am sure the song begun with about 30 seconds of the brass section (as heard later in the song) before the drum beat started.

Was there ever an extended version of this song released ??

What you described sounds like the alternate version that was available on FM's 1992 boxed-set, 'The Chain.'
It's actually about the same length as the album version and omits the first four lines of the song.

Other than the omission of those lines, it's a really awesome version. :D

I always wondered why they made that decision to omit the lines. The brass intro is really great, I love the twist - but why that sloppy cut? It goes from a full brass section to John's bass and the drum beat. It's a rough, awful switch. It'd be so much better to have the brass bleed into the first line of the song. But I'm not Mr. Buckingham, so who knows :confused:
