Shrub and Pickles are welcomed to Belgium this morning.

They promised shock and awe, they just didn't tell us it would come in the form of Pickles' (lack of) fashion. I get constipated looking at her.

I think she got that from the "Frumpy Jackie O by way of Target Collection" I think their ad campaign goes something like: "Have no sense of style, but want to emulate famous people? Come on down! We have fashions that kind of look like they could look good, but they absolutely don't! If you're boring, and have no taste, we're the store for you! *Presidential wives welcome*"

I like it for a First Lady. It is very Jackie O.

I think Mrs. Bush does not have the figure to wear alot of designer stuff. She is not fat by any means - she just does not have the shape to wear most things as they are cut and most things are cut for twigs.

I think though that this outfit is either St. John or Chanel (or a copy by some other designer) - both of which do not in any way cut for fuller figured women, who should avoid knits if possible.

is that from the IWR site? thats the only place I am aware of that refers to Laura as "pickles" unless this is a common nickname for her.....

I think it's kind of refreshing to see normal-sized women as First Ladies, potential First Ladies, etc., especially with the media criticizing everyone's looks/figures. What they did to Chelsea was horrible. I mean, Laura Bush, Teresa Heinz-Kerry, Lynne Cheney, Elizabeth Edwards.......they look like most other women their age. They've had kids; they're middle-aged. I think the last twig we had was Mrs. Reagan. But I digress.....

Anyway, though Laura's taste in men leaves a lot to be desired, I don't dislike her. She is just shy and demure, I think. You almost have to be a Southerner to understand it.

That's the Prime Minister of France's wife, who is probably wearing Chanel or some other fantastic French designer.
Isn't pink boucle bad form after 1963? All she needs is a pill box hat. :distress:

ON EDIT: Oops, after reading the caption, I guess that is not Mrs. Chirac. Still probably wearing a fabulous French designer, though.

Being the shopaholic I am and having to walk though the better dress dept. in Sak's on the way to the Men's store, I can tell you the outfits ver similar to the one the First lady is wearing have been on display in the St. John and Chanel sections. The only difference is the ones I saw had shorter skirts, which understandably her outfit does not

Of course, there also was Parker posey in "The House of Yes" - buty that is a whole other story

Also, one should always avoid looking like a bottle of Pepto Bismol.

I know darling, I've seen them too. But what I meant was, isn't it bad form for someone like the presidents wife, in a photgraph to be published worldwide, to be seen in a pink Chanel suit? Upon futher inspection of the suit and my second cup of coffee, it may or may not be boucle'.

I can't tell on this computer (the color stinks) but I think she looks cute and always very polished

SuzeQuze 02-22-2005 11:57 AM

She's dressed like a middle-aged, conservative woman.
