Black Velvet

Is the live performance of this song circulating at all? I know Stevie performed it live back in 1998.

Thanks for you help!

I've never come across it...

Black Velvet? I have never heard of that song at all - except for the horrid Alana Miles one...not a fan of that song at all....but I'm also not one to comment on boots and rarities and live stuff...cause I have nothing :distress:

This song is the bootleg of all bootlegs. I hope it will surface one day.

Wow, I didn't even know she did it, but I love the song. (shaddup). That would be soooooo cool.

I wonder if she wore black velvet? Black...that's a gimme. Velvet is a stretch.

I think I saw that show. It was in some sort of blimp hangar, down near LAX. Stevie was sort of boring. She sang 2 or 3 songs, each of them a little duller than the last. Was it '98? I thought it was after that tour, but I haven't taken my choline yet today.

Did someone get that tennis benefit she did on tape? She did a nice little mini-set for that one.

Yep, it was that very same "Black Velvet."
It was for a benefit concert Don Henley organized... the theme, if I recall correctly, was songs that were originally performed by One-Hit Wonders.

I always enjoyed the fact that Stevie sang "Black Velvet" during that concert, as that song and Alannah Myles beat her out in 1989 for the Grammy in the Rock Vocal Performance - Female category (Stevie was nominated for "Whole Lotta Trouble," as was Tina Turner's "Steamy Windows")... and then Alannah was never heard from again.

I *think* it was at that same show that Stevie and Don Henley sang "It Takes Two"... but I could be wrong.
I know they did that song together at some benefit concert.

I would have to hear Stevie's version to make a further judgement....but the other version? HATE it

Yes, I think you're right. Neither tune has surfaced - yet.

EDIT: It was the City of Hope cancer research benefit in Santa Monica, CA 11/4/98 according to Tiff's website (bluewhitefire.com)
