I'm a little worried though. I've heard some of those "Southernisms" used here in California by actual Californians. Very worrisome.

I didn't even type "the word". I was using it in juxtaposition to another racial/prejudicial slur "redneck". Is it ok to say one (regardless of the history of the word, and how many more are effected by it) but not ok to say the other? Is it plausible to make fun of rednecks and make fun of a race or minority? No, I think not.

"That word" is very offensive and very disgraceful, of course. But if you can't see the point I was trying to make then you are no smarter than "them there rednecks". :rolleyes:

Exactly, there are other words too, that people could use to talk about southerners other than "redneck". So why is it that it is so funny? I chose to use "that word" because it would catch everyone’s attention. And also so I could actually get it through some liberal skulls that there are other prejudicial and offensive words out there other than "that word".

I'm from the south, too (actually from your previous posts, I think I live very close to you) but I don't find this offensive at all. Southerners laugh at this kind of stuff all the time. Remember Jeff Foxworthy?

I should have known a liberal would try and turn the tables. The topic and link posted in this thread are very prejudicial and offensive to a large amount of people, which is exactly what you are getting so angry about right now. That terrible word that causes fear and anger among African-Americans everywhere.
