Arthur Miller Died

Just heard on radio Arthur Miller the author (Death of a salesmen, the Crucible...etc) passed away.

I just heard about this, too. :distress: R.I.P.

DrummerDeanna 02-11-2005 03:33 PM

That was all over the wire when I got to work this morning - but to be honest I thought he was already dead  so - it's sad - but I always just assumed he was an old dead playwright...:distress: May he rest in peace.

Oh, no! The last of the Marilyn connections. That is very sad. I hope his daughter is ok. :distress:
Rest in peace, sir.

I read he had 3 children. Was he the husband who continued to put flowers at Marilyns grave for years after she died?

Never heard of him, but know his work...(weird, I know).

Rest in Peace.

No, that was Joe DiMaggio. :wavey: Oh, I didn't know he had 3 children - I only know Rebecca Miller.

I heard at work, so sad, he was one of my favourite playwrights, but he lived more than Kazan, there's been some justice in that.

And his daughter Rebecca is married to Daniel Day-Lewis, whose father was also a writer-a poet, I think.

I consider Miller one of the more inconsequential playwrights in the American canon.

Arthur Miller happens to be just about the best playwright this country ever produced -- a consistently sublime vision of the intricate emotional highways that skirt our sense of selves & our acknowledgment of one another as fellow sufferers.

And nothing you say can change my mind, Romy!

GypsySorcerer 02-13-2005 07:25 PM

I was saddened to hear this. RIP, Mr. Miller.

Why should I, I totally agree  . I thought you were talking about canon in a Bloom kind of way.
