SYW Tour....need help with pre-concert music
 

I have been going absolutely nuts trying to find out exactly what band FM played on the PA before the concert started (as people made their way to their seats 2 hours prior to showtime) during the SYW tour. I assume it was standard throughout the whole tour since it was the same for me during Grand Rapids 2003, Vegas 2003, and Detroit 2004.

It was a very haunting instrumental band and I would love to know who it is so I can buy a copy of the album they were playing.

Does anyone have any idea who it was? Many thanks if you know!!!

It wasn't bluesy at all. It had a very slow, methodical muted guitar. Hard to describe. I should have asked the guys at the soundboard back on June 14th, 2003!! I wouldn't be racking my brain to come up with the answer! :laugh:

A comparable band is "Explosions in the Sky", who worked on the Friday Night Lights soundtrack. They are close, but it's definitely not them.

It's pretty evident on the Greenville show... Don't know what it is, but it's got somewhat of a hum to it...and sounds like maybe violins?? along with the radda tat tat of the dums. And the bass tone seems to be running through it quite heavy, almost midevil sounding to me.

Yes....that's it. Just hoping ANYONE knows who it is.

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something Mick and Lindsey did while killing time.

Could have been a good question for Cory Buckingham or John McVie in their q and a's. Although I don't think the latter knows anything about it. ;)

The show I went to last summer they played Albatross and for any of you who don't know where to get Albatross it's on a Peter Green era record called English Rose.

At the shows I saw, they played "Albatross" after the show, as the house lights were going back on. (And, yes, I'm a die-hard fan of the Green God!) BEFORE the show, they played something that I would describe as electronic world music. It sounds like something I could imagine Mick and Lindsey doing in the studio to kill time.

The pre-concert music for The Dance tour was Mickey Hart's then latest album (World Drum? or something like that)...maybe it was a more current Mickey Hart album they played for the Say You Will tour. :shrug:
