Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston Separate

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (news) have separated after 4 1/2 years of marriage but remain "committed and caring friends," the couple said on Friday.

"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate," Pitt and Aniston, who first met on a dinner date in 1998, said in a joint statement initially published by People magazine on its Web site.

"For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media," the statement said.

"This decision is a result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."

Pitt, 41, current starring in the big-screen crime caper "Ocean's Twelve" and former "Friends" star Aniston, 35, were married in a lavish, celebrity-studded wedding in the seaside California resort of Malibu in July 2000.

So it is finally official....

I'm kinda sad, though, inexplicably. They both actually seem pretty nice. :shrug: I wonder if it was partly the children thing? who knows. Actually, Sparky and Diss probably know. but anyways.

He totally cheated on her with Angelina Jolie. I'm sure most of America would have done the same if they were in his shoes. Ahhh...Hollywood love....

u know i watched montel williams last week, it was sylvia browne's predictions for 2005, & when asked of celebrities, that is the 1st thing she said was brad & jen would split~ she also said this of michael douglas & catherine zeta-jones :shrug: ~

Personally, I think Jen was a bitch to live with. She seems to have that "fakeness" about her when she is out and about.

really? Everyone who talks about her say she is incredibly nice and sensitive...course, that doesn't necessarily mean that, to a guy, she wouldn't come off as 'bitchy'
I was thinking that Brad probably paid an excessive amount of attention to his projects and stuff. He likes to redo houses and all that. :shrug:

I can't even begin to describe how much I dislike Angelina Jolie - don't know why I just really really can't stand her...

Anyway - I hope he didn't cheat on Jen w/Angelina - blech...

And -I am oddly saddened by the news of the split too...despite myself - I hate even knowing or wanting to know about them - but oh well...

Yay! I don't like her either! Although, she is incredibly pretty. I mainly don't like her acting. she always looks fakey fake to me...and like she's trying to hard to be interesting... :woohoo:

Sylvia scares the crap outta me. They are building a bridge in the county my parents live from WV to OH. She said the bridge that is there now will fall before the other one (which is being bulit beside it) is finished. My mom goes over that bridge 3 days a week for work. :shocked: I think it is just weird that she would pinpoint a place that no one knows about.

I think Brad's kind of an ass anyway and we all know Angelina has more than a few screws loose. Brad's spread his love all over Hollywood before he married her. Who knows if Angelina was his first affair or not? Supposedly the two of them became close while filming their recent movie together. One thing led to another and all of the gossip hounds caught on. I'm totally not surprised though. I thought the marriage would fold way earlier. Seven year itch, Brad?

Or the seven year "SWITCH" ?

Um, yeah, I would totally cheat on my boyfriend with Angelina Jolie. And I tell him this frequently. For some reason, he seems okay with it. :shrug: :woohoo:
