Cath Carroll "Never Break the Chain"

Truly a magnificent Fleetwood Mac book. I strongly recommend it.

I received this book for Christmas, and it is in my opinion by far the best Fleetwood Mac book out there. I finally finished it about 10 minutes ago, and it is one of the most insightful, and well put together rock n roll books I've read.

You get an incredible insight into the recording industry, mainly Warner Brothers in the 1970s. You will not find any ramblings about Stevie being a witch, like some of those Stevie Nicks books with all that incorrect info. It devotes a good deal of time to all eras of the band, of course primarily focusing on the making of Rumours, and the affect Rumours had on the band throughout the rest of their career.

Cath Carroll is truly a great rock writer, and in my opinion has comprised the best Fleetwood Mac book out there, fan or not fan anyone should enjoy reading this book...

Is this a brand new book, or has it been out for a while?

Not sure exactly when it was released... could probably find out on amazon.com but it is fairly recent as it mentions the Say You Will album and tour, as well as Christine's retirement from the band

I think it's slated for June/July of next year, isn't it?

I just got this book Friday as a Christmas present from my boss of all people.

I did not get a chance to read it yet. I was really disappointed with the photos or lack of photos, however.

If I can find it among all of my post Xmas mess I will give it a read.

I ordered mine in September of this year--I believe it was published sometime right around then because I had it on my "Wish" list on Amazon forever and they had the "Not Yet Published" label on it and then one day while I was checking, it was Available so I ordered it ASAP. I was very impressed with it. Easily one of the best FM Bios I've ever read. It concentrates on the making of Rumours and I learned things I did not know and I've been a fan for 30 years now and I have read tons of articles and books about FM over the years.

I'm just starting to read the book. Won it in a contest over at fmlegacy. 12 weeks... 12 give aways. I think the contest is still going on - if anyone is interested.

So far so good.

I just finished this book over the holidays. It was a well written book but unfortunately I felt like I already knew a lot of the stuff in it. What was interesting to me, however, was Cath Carroll's synthesis and quasi-analysis of the songs on the white Fleetwood mac album through Tusk. I thought her comments on the songs were insightful and thorough--she is a very astute critic of this band, and that is a compliment I don't throw around lightly.

One really interesting part of the book that I didn't know was the events surrounding the Tusk video shoot. One of the members of the USC marching band who participated that day has a cute and interesting story about working with the band. I really enjoyed her comments.
