strange, disturbing, and amusing FM moments with friends and family

The past year has brought some interesting FM moments for me, so here are a few.

At Christmas, my sister-in-law was genuinely upset when I opened my Heroes are Hard to Find CD. She took one look at the cover and said it was disturbing. I laughed, and she even more serious and said, "That is really horrible!"

One of my brothers told my Mom that I said I'd trade all of my FM CDs for one of her gifts. She looked at him strangely and he said, "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies." Then he looked at me and asked, "Well, I made a Mac reference, isn't that good?" I said, "I'm not impressed. That one is too well-known. Reference the blues era and I'll be impressed." He said, "I don't know anything about that." I said, "All you have to say is 'I got a black magic woman,'" and he then said, "You mean the Carlos Santana song?" I said, "No! I mean the Fleetwood Mac song that Carlos Santana remade!"

Comment from another one of my brothers--"Oh you like Fleetwood Mac now? They were good until they let those two chicks join the band. That ruins every band."

My Mom, seeing Lindsey in the "Little Lies" video--"OH MY GOD HE LOOKS GOOD!!!"

My English teacher, after seeing me wearing my pink Stevie shirt--"Stevie Nicks, huh? What's she doing these days?" "She came out with a new album with Fleetwood Mac last year, and they've been touring," I said. "Oh, never mind then," she said.

Same English teacher, another day when I'm wearing my red Christine McVie shirt. "Don't you have a pink one like that?" she asks. "No, that one has Stevie on it." She shakes her head at me.

Well, I thought they were entertaining tidbits, but seem less entertaining now that I've typed them.

Anyone else? :wavey:

My mom, when watching ANYTHING with Lindsey in it: GOD he's so gay. Was that in his eyeliner phase? Shut up, Lindsey, you're so full of yourself. I have no idea what Stevie saw in you.

She also likes to sing along sometimes, with hilarious results. Merf or Riss can tell you about those. ;)

Oh. Some more. She seriously says these EVERY. TIME.

While watching/listening to The Dance: Was this when Stevie was on drugs?
While watching the Mirage concert: Girlfriend needs to LOSE THE BLUSH.
While watching anything from the 80s: Stevie's got the poodle-hair thing going on.
While watching the Stand Back video: You know, back in the 80s? I had hair like that. And every girl wanted to be JUSTLIKESTEVIE and every guy wanted to be with her. (Me: Whatev, Mom. )
While watching anything in which Mick's eyes go all crazy-like: WoOoO! WILD MAN!
While watching anything in which Mick's being stupid: (insert laughter here) He's so funny!
While watching Stand Back: Black widow, I can mend? What?! (Me: -_-)
While watching anything with Sharon: Who's the ugly skinny one?

Seriously, guys. Every. Time.

   I'm surprised your cousin didn't follow that up with "She's just so fat now and she had a great figure back then."

 Believe me, it gets annoying after a while.

MP3s, though? Hmm. My computer's microphone cord isn't long enough to get near the other room, otherwise -- ;)

This is more towards me:

Mom: "THAT'S IT! I'm sick of you twirling around, tapping your fist on your hand. I'm buying you a tambourine."

.Mission Complete.

He's not kidding. Seriously. The other night I was talking to Greg while Chris Isaak's Soundstage was on and he's like, "I'm supposed to wake mom up when Stevie comes on."

.....an hour later....

"Weren't you supposed to wake your mom up?"
"Yep. But then she'll be awake."

That's funny, because I've always thought of "As Long As You Follow" as a wintery/Christmasy type song too.

I think I've figured out why though... it was released as a single in late November/early December, and it was just a couple days before Christmas when my cousin called me to tell me the video was playing on MTV (the first time I had seen it). :)

Not to mention the video's pretty wintery, what with all the snow.

Yeah, I think I saw the video once and I associated the song with winter from then on.

OHHH!!! I always have FM stories! Let's see if I can remember them

First day of school I walked into first hour and my Algebra teacher grabs my arm and looks at my shirt and goes "YOU LIKE FLEETWOOD MAC?! I LIKE YOU ALREADY!" We've been FM friends for a while now. Cool teacher. :-D We always share little FM inside jokes in class while all the other kids are like "What the heck?"

Girl in my first hour came in singing EO17...I've never talked to her but I was like "You know that's Stevie Nicks?" She's like "No, it isnt, It's Carly Simon" I was like "No...It's Stevie." and she's like "Oh" Later on in the class she starts singing it "Just like the one wing dove" All I could do is shake my head...

My photo teacher stopped me as I walked into class one day infront of the class and goes "How many Fleetwood Mac shirts, do you really have?" I was like "9. Now shut up. LOL" But I didn't really say that.

This happaned tonight and I thought it was funny...My dad asked me "So you know there is a song that FM always starts off with in all their concerts?" Me- "Yes, The Chain" Dad "Yeah..." Me- "Is that your story...Come on go on" Dad- "No I was done" Mom comes in- "Tim, did you really think you were gunna get her?"

I was walking into my friends house and her parents had neighbors over and they were eating dinner. I had a FM shirt on and they stopped eating and they were like "YOU LIKE FLEETWOOD MAC?" "Yeah..." "OMG I LOVE FLEETWOOD MAC! WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SONG?!" "I'm not sure....I like so many..." By that time Melissa pulled me away to stop talking to the old people. LOL

I was going to eat dinner with my mom, dad, aunt, uncle, and two cousins. We passed this chinese restaurant and it was called "Chef Shangri-La" and My eyes bugged out of my head and I started chanting "SHANGRI-LA SHANGRI-LA SHANGRI-LA" and my cousin was like "Aunt Jeanne, is Jessica okay?" My mom was like "Yes, she's in her Stevie Nicks world. Don't bug her, she gets nasty when people snap her out of it"

One girl at my Colorguard practice told me that Stevie looked like Kellie Martin... I was like uh...Okay..."

My endless conversations with Meredith (the same girl that thought EO17 was Carly Simon) about how Lindsey and Stevie should be together...

There was a radio station that was giving away free FM books a while ago and if you called thne they would send you one. My friend Juli and I kept calling and they wouldn't pick up, so Juli left a message on the answering machine and she was screaming "OMG I LOVE FLEETWOOD MAC AND STEVIE NICKS OH MY GOSH!" It was very funny, but I guess you had to be there. LOL

And then this kid randomly coming up to me in the lunch room and starts singing "Little Lies" to me. I didn't even know what to do. All my friends were laughing histerically and I just sat there, staring like a fool. We've been friends ever since :xoxo: I don't think he knows my name though...He calls me Fleetwood.

Okay, it's 1:30 in the morning and I'm tired...So I will try and think of more. I always have some stories! :D :D

That's my mom too. And my dad. They think LB is just a weirdo pretty boy.

There was that time when my uncle was over, and we were talking about music and stuff when he jokingly says, about Stevie, "That old coke-whore"

Some other occurances:

- My mom, upon seeing my large collection of Stevie albums and Stevie bootlegs, and Stevie DVD's saying, "Ryan, are you gay?"

- Me and my dad were talking about how Fleetwood Mac was so full of backstabbing and cheating, when my dad goes, "I wonder if Christine and Stevie ever got it on? Oh yeah!"

- My sister making goat noises whenever Stevie comes on the radio

- Listening to one of my Tusk bootlegs (and the song Tusk actually), my dad pops this question: "Ok Ryan. For $100 dollars, what was wrong with LB during this concert? A - He was jacked up on coke, B - He was stoned, or C - He poked himself in the eye with his mascara brush" Then I say, "Well, probably all or the above, but he's just like this most of the time."

- My dad, during that same bootleg (during a sloppy version of Angel): "This was the height of their drug intake, wasn't it?...I can tell"

- My grandmother (of all people) asked me, so who's the new hot (yes, she says 'hot' as in sexy) singer that you love? Britney Spears? And my mom goes, nah, he's just in love with Stevie Nicks, he thinks he's gonna marry her or something  << nothing wrong with that idea though >>

- My mom, answering the question posed by my aunt, "Where's Ryan?" - "He's off in his Stevie Nicks world. Just go on in, he wont mind too much"
