Shocked about southeast Asia

21 thousand souls, and the number is growing. What a catastrophe. Huge impact from Sri Lanka to Thailand. Is like Peru to Colombia, or from Florida to Dallas!

sympathy

This is a phrase from a thread at indiamike.com (a forum of travelers and addicted voyagers to India), the guy is from Vashon, WA

The earth is still ringing like a bell from the earthquake. Let's hope the vibrations echo through the soul of humankind and help all realize that helping our fellow people are much more important than the quest for power and oil in Iraq

Wise words.

Shake your foundations. These occurences remind me of how precious life is and how fortunate I am. My thoughts and prayers are with these people. It is shocking that such a high death toll would occur in this day and age. In case you didn't notice, the Ahem thread is also about this subject. :(

Very shocking indeed...it's so unbelievable...

And its getting worse and worse...

The Associated Press is now reporting the death toll to be over 55,000 now.

So horrible

Try and put 55,000 faces to that number.......

I can't help but think how easy it must have been to get caught up in this. I've been imagining how it would be if I were on the beach and the waters receded that dramatically. I wouldn't know what to think. I'm afraid I would have been one of the people venturing out to look at all the fascinating things that were revealed when the waters receded. And then I never would've guessed what was coming. It's horrifying. I've never experienced such a thing so I wouldn't have known that I needed to leave very quickly, just like thousands of others didn't know. :distress:

Just saw the saddest image...

on NBC news of an abandoned European boy (Possibly of Swedish decent) who was standing on a street holding a sign that read "Missing parents 2 brothers and grandparent".

Sad :(
