The Reason that this show is important is because it is the very day
that stevie's friend robin died. so it will be very intresting to hear stevie
during this show. i'm assuming that at point stevie did not recieve the news
that she had passed away. but given how sick she was it is still intresting
to hear stevie sing gypsy,dreams,ect given her state of mind at the time.

This is a great show, one of my faves (it was actually one of the first boots I got.) I know there's some debate about what date Robin died (see thread in Stevie Forum) so I'm not positive if she actually died on that day or not. But anyway, the show is wonderful.

it is...but it is still interesting. death is a part of life and it's interesting to see how people cope.

additionally, this death was probably the most traumatic thing that happened to stevie and it definately changed her. i think that's why there's a curiosity.

not sure of the significance of Stevie's friend for this show
(it was something going on in her personal life at the time and while it probably influenced her day to day, i'm not sure it really changed the overall "state" of the band at the time).
it was more likely that the obscene amount of drugs being consumed by the band and crew at the time had a more immediate effect on the shows

drugs and death aside, this was a great tour for me (and a great show)
the tour was possibly Stevie's worst vocal period but one of the most energetic and fresh, in terms of the actual playing. What a contrast to the last two tours - with all the unnecessary back up musicians and vocalists.
I love how raw and almost punk the band was on this tour. Imperfect vocals, off key harmonies, but loud raucous, "no appologies" playing.
I miss those days and I'd love to see them try to do it again. They'd have to abandon the multi-million dollar corporate machine and get out of the arenas.
Can you imagine a small-venue tour with just Lindsey, Mick, John and Stevie?

That would be fun.

Actually, I was just noticing what I thought to be little spontanaeties and flourishes in the '87 Salt Lake City Boot. Perhaps because of Rick and Billy? The band seemed a lot more adventurous than they do know.
I totally agree with your assessment about them sounding like a punk band on the Mirage Tour. I was listening to one of those boots the other day and thinking that they sounded so good, it was just them, so why can't they do that again?

Whether or not it's actually the date, if you listen to the show in that context you can hear something a little different (at least I can) from the other Mirage boots. Like their missing that little spark. Hey it could be the drugs too.

I know! Stevie sounds much better now than she did then, so why the need for back up singers? On the contrary, she really needed some back-up's sometimes on that tour :laugh: .

I don't notice anything different - except that Lindsey's so drunk by the end he's slurring his words and can barely keep time with the music! I'm embarrassed for him when I listen to it.

How can you download. Every time I want to download something it says: username & password. So I became a member but that didn't help either. Please help.... there's a Dutch show on there which I attended in 1980. It was my first Fleetwood Mac show but my cassette player ate my tapes.
