Spreading the FM Love

I know that everyone gets excited when you expose someone to FM material, and they in turn fall in love with it, so I hope that you'll appreciate my story.

So I've been seeing this guy for a week, and he came over last night to watch a movie. I figured that he needed to realize early on how fanatical I am, so I said "Ok, before we watch a movie, I have to show you one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac moments." So I put in The Dance and skipped to Silver Springs. I paused it and gave him the background. "The inspiration for the song was Silver Springs, MD...it's written about Lindsay, the guy playing the guitar...was left off of Rumours....yadda, yadda..."

I play it for him, and he was "so knocked out". He was like "Can we watch it one more time?!?!" I said "You never have to ask me that." So we watched it again. Then he begged to watch it again. He said "Wow! So they're like up there talking to each other?!? All of this is between them!?!" He went on and on about it, so then I whipped out LIB so that we could compare the performances. Then we ended up watching The Dance in its entirety, and now he's excited to go out and buy Mac CDs. Yay! Another convert!!!

We are 'courting'. I'm still accepting digits.

Good work!!!

DrummerDeanna 11-18-2004 04:25 PM

Right on - I love that - my ex was always willing to watch/listen and listen to me talk for a helluva long time about them - but he never got hooked...

It's awesome though - whenever I start telling people about them who know nothing - they are totally interesting and want to know more...or they're just being polite and not knowing how to get me to shut up :p

Anyway - you did choose and excellent moment to show your potential bf :D

I converted my 14 year old cousin. He loves Christine so much. Anything she does he loves. Especially her butt shakes(the only dance she can do behind the keyboards).

I've been described, by someone I dated, as an "icorrigible flirt." But i'm innocent, I tell ya.

And, by the way, Curtis knows I'm harmless. :)

Well, come visit, yo! ;)

Johnny Stew 11-18-2004 04:39 PM

I've converted quite a few friends and family members, but the guys I've dated usually already like FM/Stevie to some degree or another.

That's not a pre-requisite, by the way, but it is a plus! :)

I'm a failure

My friends love to annoy me about hating Fleetwood Mac. They actually love them. But they got oversaturated in 1997 when I played The Dance (video, cd, etc) everyday and didn't stop telling about the concert I went to NYC.

So they always tell me bad jokes about the mac. It's just a revenge after my fanatism, ha ha!! However they did like the Silver Springs performance from The Dance, and loved the killer eyes between S&L during the "neeeever get away". They asked me to tell them the story behind those two.

And from the Live in Boston dvd, during the Stand Back intro, my best friend found Lindsey very sexy. He think he still is very sexy or even more now that he is older.

I'm confused. Is Mirror a Gay guy? If so, no wonder he got a convert. I busted out 53 Stevie's a bit this weekend, with my straight guy friend,(that i sleep with sometimes) who is cool, and a musician, and he wanted to watch a little bit, but i had to kick out stuff that rocked. He was like "I wanna see the five Rhiannons" but i couldn't show them all to him. And after watching one, and a Angel live (with making of) and a REALLY high GDW, well, he was interested, but i wouldn't have called him a convert, and i don't know if he was being polite or what... :p

Honey, let me put that confusion to rest. I'm queerer than a three dollar bill.
