Non political - WTF

If they can have a freakin' class about LIl' Kim I think Stevie and/or the Mac should definitely have one ;)

^Hip hop star to talk to college class studying her life<
^
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) _ Syracuse University students taking the
course ``The Life and Times of Lil' Kim'' are scheduled to have a
guest speaker tomorrow _ the multi-platinum hip hop recording
artist herself.
Kim accepted an invitation to speak to students in the
accredited course taught by English professor Greg Thomas.
She also will meet with faculty and about 100 other invited
students during her visit to discuss her role in the hip hop
culture and her experiences as one of its leading female stars.
She says in a statement -- quote -- ``I am honored and quite
proud that a class is being on my sensationalist lyrics, unique
style and fashion and leadership role within the hip-hop
community.''
The Syracuse course requires students to read Kim's song lyrics
as literary texts and analyzes her iconography in videos and
performances.
A growing list of courses offered by colleges and universities
around the country are examining hip hop as a cultural movement.

I also saw that there is an American Idol class in one of the Carolinas (I think). What's next - a class on My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance?

Now now....the football players have to take something between weightlifting and Football 101. Lil Kim seems appropriate. :o

Awww, gee...if Carmelo Anthony would've known that, he'd probably have stayed and finished his NCAA eligibility!

She is a frickin moron. Seriously, Hip Hop as a cultural movement? couldn't they have gotten someone better? And if you go by her videos, music, well, it sure is a crappy movement...Not musically, the "lifestyles" it portrays.

I don't know who this person is, but I'm absolutely positive that she doesn't know the correct meaning of the word sensationalist.

It's a political decision. Virtually every administrative decision made these days in the hallowed halls of Academe is a political decision.

Personally, I get overjoyed every time I hear about some silliness in the public schools because I figure that the students enrolled in institutions that offer courses like this silly-ass mickey-mouse of a course are that many fewer people with whom I would ever have to compete for a great job.

The more people who are destroyed by their schooling, the better your own chances! The only caveat is that you yourself have to avoid all such mickey-mouse courses, & instead take courses that teach things like history, science, math, language & literature in traditional, rational ways. Good luck finding them, by the way!

no, if these people go to good colleges, you will be forced to work along side them, and inevitable hear them talking at some point, which is actually my worst fear...A whole nation filled with boring, stupid conversationalists...that talk about hip hop... As if i don't get enough, around here....

The poor thing is just so proud of herself for having used a five-syllable word, she can't be bothered to actually use it correctly! ;)
