I've been wondering this for years. Both songs were done, and released for movies so I guess that's why they were never put on albums and released as singles, but they are two fabulous songs that should have gotten more attention than being hidden on soundtracks.

2::Why on earth were Blue Lamp and Sleeping Angel not released as singles?! Much less put on an album? SA should have replaced B&TB.

HAWAFY as a single? How about Imperial Hotel! Battle of the Dragon & RTTG - should've been on Rock A Little.

7::Nightbird is a good song, but not single material. Should've went for Nothing Ever Changes or Enchanted.

I've heard that, often, the record company execs are the ones who pick the singles. The artist can just stand by helplessly (or complain) & watch an inappropriate single be released.

In the case of "Nightbird," there had been a couple of reviews of the "Wild Heart" album that referred to the Fleetwood Mac-like sound of "Nightbird," & that was probably all it took for Modern execs to rush to release it (obviously in the hopes that a Fleetwood Mac-like sound would prove successful). I myself don't hear much Fleetwood Mac in "Nightbird" (a very mechanized drum beat & Waddy Wachtel's countryish guitar), but I think "Sable on Blonde" is very FM'ish.

I always thought "Listen to the Rain" would have made a great single, much better than "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind."

4::Alice, and also: Two Kinds of Love.

I love these the way they are. I am so happy she did them live and they are great songs. I would take these two over a lot of popular songs. Doing these 2 live for the OSOTM tour made me very happy.

I also enjoy these on the album. Lets pray she does one for her new tour!

Things I Would Have Advised Her To Do

1. Burn the Street Angel masters and release the ashes into the Santa Ana winds.
2. Put "Blue Lamp" on Bella Donna instead of "After the Glitter Fades," release that as a single in lieu of "Leather and Lace."
3. Trash "Too Far From Texas" and "That Made Me Sicker" for "Space Needle" and a funky Dallas Austin track. Also, let Lindsey play guitar on Planets.
4. Fire Margi from '89-'94. Hire Steven Sprouse.
5. Burn the Street Angel masters and release the ashes into the Santa Ana winds.
6. Retire Rhiannon, GDW, Dreams, and Landslid after the reunion.
7. Wear leather pants and the pink boa more often.
8. Shorten the album version of "Alice" and recruit Christine to sing it with you in the studio.
9. Not to comment on Jackson Browne.
10. Burn the Street Angel masters and release the ashes into the Santa Ana winds.

1. I like Street Angel. Sure, it wasn't a great album in comparison to her others, but it was heartfelt, and that's why I listen to her music anyway. I would have stuck with the demo version of "Listen to the Rain" though and released it as a single. And I would have raised hell until they released "Rose Garden" to the country stations.

2. I wish "If I Were You" had been released, with HAEWAFY as the b-side. Not that it's the greatest song on Rock A Little, but it would have sounded great on the radio, and imagine the cute video she could have made. True blockbuster albums are usually determined by how well the THIRD single does, not the first two, which is why Bella Donna sold more than The Wild Heart and Rock a Little combined (despite what the "quality" may be). The customers were there, believe me, they were just improperly marketed to. And hello, Christopher -- I know you're reading this -- you f*cked up big-time with the fan club and tour marketing and cost your sister (and you, by proxy) millions upon millions of dollars!!!

3. I was friends with a local DJ (from the now defunct 97 Rock in Houston), and she got "Nothing Ever Changes" and "Enchanted" on the local playlist for me, and then "Violet and Blue" when Against All Odds came out. Rock stations were desperate for some rockin' Stevie tunes after wearing out "Edge of Seventeen" for 2 years. I don't know what the record company was thinking with "Nightbird" after "If Anyone Falls" kinda petered out in comparison to "Stand Back" -- again, THIRD single, people.

4. I still can't believe we don't have a Live album, even if it's one or two best performances from each tour as a retrospective.

5. I want a complete video collection, the HBO concert on DVD, and a 4 or 5 or 6-disc demo boxed set. I don't need packaging or anything fancy, just liner and production notes and maybe stories about the songs and why they weren't finished or included -- these can even be posted on an accompanying website if it costs too much to print. It can be white-label with no pictures and sold directly to the fans through The Nicks Fix to get around the record label. She has enough unfinished songs for 20 more albums, and we all know she'll never release that many, not to mention that she writes new stuff every day!

I know, I can't believe it either. The Jones Beach and Boston Street Angel shows are worthy of an official release.

It occurs to me that most of us would be better record execs and/or managers and or producers of the Mac, or Stevie

My advice

1) don't listen to the well meaning, but mis-guided psychiatrists....don't fill that script for klonapin!!!!!!!!

2)fire your brother from handling merch/art decisions. this has been an unholy mess since 1983. release more merch!

3)CATER TO THE DIAMOND_HARD_CORE FANS!!!!! this is a strategy employed by the Grateful Dead, they are releasing music long after they have ceased to exist because they market to the most loyal....never mind catering to fringe fans with best of's like timespace and two discs from enchanted...release the gems that we already have listed, ex. Space Needle and such.

4) whatever the magic potion was for TISL, whatever decisions, stay on that track.

5) A box , say 1000 discs set (ok, mabye i went a bit far, but I would buy it) of early recordings, demos, conversations, etc with accompanying book explaining it all....reach out and touch us....see item number 3 again. We want it ALL.

6) live albums----even make it so we can download any show from a tour........ again, see item 3

7) Extended releases ala the FM albums (item 3 once more).

8) dreamy, surrealistic, dark videos....and for heaven sakes...release them on DVD....I can understand her fear of looking like she is exploiting her fans and being slow to release things, but sheesh, it gets so tight it almost feels as if we are being ignored.....also see item number 2....exploit us....we don't mind....just make sure its Stevie decisions, not record suit-men decisions

9) i am sure there is more, that's all i have now, i may edit this later

So true! If I Were You would have made a great single...I've become very attached to that song lately. Hopefully, the video would have turned out better than Talk to Me and I Can't Wait :)
