I love S.E. Hinton. Her book "The Outsiders" was the first that touched my life. I can still recite the first paragraph. And when Francis Ford Coppela released the movie I saw it 5 times in two weeks. I still have my scrap book with all the movie clippings and magazine clippings. Her new book is about pirates and vampires. Should be an interesting read.

An interesting thing about that book, is that she was actually commissioned to write the third novel in a new series of books based on the show, 'Dark Shadows,' but when "The Powers That Be" read it, they balked at the "language and content."

The story was set in Collinsport, Maine (the fictional setting for 'Dark Shadows'), and was centered around the Willie Loomis character (a ne'er do well, who ended up working as Barnabas Collins'... the vampire... man-servant), and his life leading up to the arrival of Barnabas.

When HarperCollins passed on the story, S.E. changed the characters' names, changed the locale from Collinsport to Hawke's Harbor, and removed/altered any other copyrighted material. She then sold the book to Tor Books.

Do you guys ever confuse S.E. Hinton with Carol Hinton?

having to read "the Outsiders" in Junior High all those years ago...

But what is funny is the movie, Most of the shots filmed in Tulsa are obvious though, But what do ya expect from a Tulsan (S.E. Hinton)???

Personally we are awaiting the new Anne Rice book, Should be a trip to read a book without any vampires though.

What's it about? Actually, I don't care much for Anne Rice, except I liked the ones that started out with the girl named "Rowan" but i forgot what they were, now. I think the girl was a witch, not a vampire?
