Burnish?

I know there is a thread about this somewhere on the board but I couldn't sort through it - what happened and is it coming back? I don't need long answers because I am assuming this is a touchy subject...

Things got out of hand on the Burnish board, so Tracy halted it. No clue if it will return. :distress:

Funny, I used to go there a few times a week just to look around. I never saw anything remotely out of hand - certainly not compared to the dramas that get stirred up here :laugh

Too bad it isn't around, I liked it.

Why not just "halt" the message board. Seems like a huge overreaction to me.
I believe there's loyalty in the mac online community and she fudged it with this fan!

After all she has done for the Mac community, I think it's sad that you feel that way.

Maybe she was simply tired of all the drama, got frustrated, and decided to take a break from everything for awhile. It's her site, after all, and is under no obligation to do any of the things she does.

You know what I find amusing? The fact that people get banned from these forums and other forums on the web. I don't see what the harm is in saying whatever the hell you want to. It's not the end of the world. Speaking for myself, I would only go "so far" in an argument. It's all in good fun mostly, and usually everyone just wants to vent their opinion. I can see how saying something like "I'm going to dig up your dead mother and piss in her skull" would get you kicked off the forum! (thats an EXAMPLE for ya!) But other than that most people are just ruffling feathers because moderators (not necessarily THIS site) may not agree with their opinion. I think it requires a little patience and the understanding that none of us are here to intentionally hurt one another.

mylittledemon 09-20-2004 02:01 PM

I agree with Dissention. There really (in my book) is never a time when you can insult the site runner! Marty and Lis do enough to keep this thing going, so if they don't like something you've said or done (and I have a feeling they'll let you go pretty far) then you've probably overstepped your boundaries.

I want Burnish back so bad, I really do.

Exactly. I'm assuming that Tracy is out of high school, therefore she does not want to deal with high school-type bull**** on HER message board  Can't say I blame her - why the hell should she?

Tracy...

Works, pays for a website (just as Marty and Lis do here) and spent A LOT of time updating that site and making sure it was as current and interesting as possible.

She doesn't owe anyone anything. Instead of knocking her for taking a well-deserved rest, I think it's nice that some of you have shown your appreciation and told her you miss her site. I have no idea if she lurks here or not but it's much nicer to see good things about yourself than criticism for something you've spent so much of your meager free-time doing as a service for the FM community (as do ALL the people who have sites and boards that are well-maintained and current. It aint an easy task, that's for sure).

I really like Burnish a lot. I think that Tracy does a fantastic job with that site. I don't think that she is being selfish or anything. Maybe she just has other things going on in her life that we know nothing about.
Well anyway I hope that she is doing well and hopefully Burnish will be back on the Mac internet community soon.

estranged4life 09-20-2004 10:20 PM

I do not see...

how taking time away from running a website can be considered selfish...Tracy is among a few of the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks website owners who bust their asses to help spread the news of FM/SN/LB/etc (Along with Marty/Lis, Sara M., Nancy & Daniel) and if she wants a vacation from running her website I think she definitely has earned it.

Hell, I am taking time away from trading music because of illness, Not because I am a selfish *%^#&@$.

Okay, guys I don't think it is selfish at all. Just the way she made a dramatic exit by saying in capital letters that she needs a vacation rubbed me the wrong way.

Like I said I know I am in the minority. I love her site and all I was just a bit turned off by the way she left things.

FairyPrincess 09-21-2004 12:50 AM

I really Miss Burnish but I don't blame Tracy for taking a break things were getting kinda out of hand in some of the threads and ppl were walking all over her , I can't say that I wouldn't have done the same thing Had I been in her shoes.

Well, I can understand it a bit. I liked reading her blogs like a lot of people.
And I can understand the possible reasons she's taking a break.
But just a short explanation why she's gone would've been nice. Just look at how much speculation there's been going on, since.
