Joey / Will & Grace

I wasn't impressed with the "Joey" premiere last week, and I decided after tonight's episode that unless they kick it up 5 or 6 notches, this show is doomed.

Then came the season premiere of "Will & Grace". ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

If I have to suffer through another season of boring standard rehash Grace Drama, I may just give up on this show too. After what, 7 seasons, Will finally has a boyfriend (a hot one to boot), and I have a feeling they're gonna skirt around the whole issue just because the show is now in the 7-8 pm "child-friendly" time slot. Two adult men having a consensual gay relationship on prime time TV??? What's The World Coming To?

Besides, I've always secretly wished Will & Grace would die some pathetic shopping-related death, and they'd rename the show "Jack & Karen" and give the world something to actually laugh about.

Oh, and I found myself having to make repeated bathroom trips during both shows (and NOT during the commercials). Should they rename the whole block "Must Pee TV"? :]

I lost interest in Will & Grace after about the 2nd season or so.

As for "Joey"...I don't understand why they decided to do a spinoff based on the most annoying character on "Friends." They should've done a show with Chandler & Monica.

That might have been okay, but a show about Phoebe would have been my ultimate wish. Can you imagine? It would have been what Dharma & Greg wanted to be ... only good.

I just don't get Will & Grace at all. For a "gay" show, there's hardly anything gay about it. Just insipid double entendres, an endless parade of washed-up divas trying to save their careers (e.g. Janet Jackson, next week's guest "star"), and two lead characters I would like to smack repeatedly, overandoverandoverandover.

I actually like the premiere of Joey a lot - I found it very entertaining and upon reading your subject line I repeatedly kicked myself for missing it tonight  Oh well....as for Will & Grace - I've never been a consistent watcher of that show but I enjoy the occasional rerun...

The premiere wasn't bad, I'll agree -- especially the audition for the cop show with all the fake blood spray.

Tonight's episode was a drama by comparison to the first. I won't spoil it, since I have never managed to comprehend time zones (not to mention when Daylight Savings Time is factored in), and I'm not sure if everyone has seen it yet.

I haven't watched that lame-assed show in over 2 years. The neutered Will, the Queen Jack, the shrill Karen, the Whiny Jap Grace... Who ISN'T annoying on this show ?

I do actually like Karen and Jack in some ways. They can be very funny. Especially Karen. Even if she is an Ab Fab rip off character, the actress is great. But, in theory, the show is offensive to me. I work in TV a LOT, so I get that they must pander to cliches. And be "sensitive". The thing is, I know guys just like Jack, I know women just like Grace, I even know women like Karen...but I do not know one gay man who is as nutless and asexual as Will. To make that character sexual and the slightest bit male is too threatening for NBC to deal with. His very existence as a character is humiliating and sickening to me as a gay guy.

So, I boycott that show. Period.

I thought the premiere of Joey was "eh", but decided to give it a chance to get some legs to it. But last night was a definite snoozefest. Joey without Chandler and the rest of the Friends is just not very funny. He was a loveable buffoon on Friends; on his show he just seems like a buffoon. And where is this unemployed actor getting his money from with Chandler gone????

Will & Grace was spectacularly unfunny as well. That show is getting VERY tired. I'll watch a few more episodes to see if things pick up, but if not Must See TV will become Must Miss TV in my house.

I've always called Will & Grace "Jack & Karen." They get all the funny lines...

I agree, it's gone downhill, but I'll still watch it. I missed the premiere of Joey, but watched last nite's episode. Meh.

I love Will & Grace, I thought last night's premier was funny. I don't really know of another show with live people that has so many clever quips. I'm glad it's on, and I don't really care whether or not I know people like them, or whether people are really like that. I just wait for the jokes to roll in...And my favorite is Karen, of course, but my next favorite is Will...I think he has a lot of the great lines...
"Joey" was ok...nothing special, yet, but not tooo bad....

It had its moments, I agree. The skewering of the whole Kabballah bracelet at the opening was great, especially when Jack decided to make his the extra-wide grograine ribbon with a bow!

I missed the very beginning.... :o which now that you tell me, i am sad about....I remember the joke they referenced later - something about...revenge, vandalism, and theft - the three tenets of Kabal
And of course, "oh...will you sign my bra?" "Sure...you're not wearing a..." "SIGN IT!!" ..."oh, right next to Sheryl Crow's...."
To me, as long as something is more funny than not, I will like it....

Grace, Karen, and Jack all came in wearing K "bracelets", saying they really like "Mr. Kabballah" and were dedicating their lives to him. When Will would get upset and try to correct them, they'd say "If he's not a person, then how did he write a book???"

But that whole dinner scene ... blech!!

At Dinner where they kept talking about "the beef" and then Jack thought he was the beef? Then made that stupid speech about getting fired from JLO? I didn't think it was too bad....

What they should do is keep Grace single, just dump Harry Connick and have her single and sleeping around. Will should get a new guy and totally fall in love himself...have fun.

karen and Jack...don't change a thing.

I never get to watch the show but I think it's better than many other horrible sitcoms.

Joey...no interest whatsoever.

oh, but Harry Connick is funny and cute! Besides, i think she did dump him for good at the end of the last episode, so your wish has come true...Her best boyfriend ever? Woody Harrelson, he was soooo good!!! :)
