DeGeneres as God in 'Oh, God!' remake
THIS SHOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!
DeGeneres as God in 'Oh, God!' remake LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Comedian Ellen DeGeneres is getting a promotion -- to supreme being. DeGeneres will star as God in a remake of the 1977 comedy "Oh, God!" The original starred George Burns as the creator and John Denver as a supermarket manager tapped as a new prophet. "Ellen is a strong comedian and she has always done material about God and questions about God," said Jerry Weintraub, who produced the original movie and also will oversee the remake. Weintraub said he'll hire a screenwriter and director with the aim to shoot the movie during a break in DeGeneres' schedule from her talk show next summer. Though successful on the small screen, DeGeneres misfired in an earlier transition to film with the romantic-comedy flop "Mr. Wrong." She helped score a hit with her voice work on last year's animated tale "Finding Nemo." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2004 The Associated Press. I was thinking the same thing when I saw it on CNN this morning. She's perfect for the role. :)

I guess I'm showing my age, because I've never heard of this movie. Hillary |

It is currently running on HBO or some other program like that. It was not bad IMO. But, it flopped. |
"Hello, God? Yeah, it's Ellen.
I loved both of the original "Oh God" movies. I was in Elementary school when the first one came out, and it was the most I had ever laughed up until that point. I laughed even harder than at the Herbie movies. George Burns was perfect, and I even liked John Denver. Does anyone think this will cause a religious-right uproar? A lesbian playing God? I'm all for it, but I'm stocking up on ammunition just in case. |

Did you see on Ellen's show, they had a lady who wanted to sing backup for Dolly Parton, and they let her on the show!!! I should ask for my one wish to sing backup for the Mac...Dolly's cool, though, the Mac probably wouldn't do it without rehearsals, bleah, bleah   Anyway.. AMber |
