Break Down of Enchanted Disk 3

this is my favorite Stevie album (compilation) ever.

AMAZING: Long Distance Winner, Gold and Braid, Blue Lamp, Battle of the Dragon, Reconsider Me, Violet and Blue and Gold

Great: Sleeping Angel, Somebody Stand By Me and Sweet Girl

REALLY Good: Twisted, Free Fallin

Good: Thousand Days

OK: Rhiannon (really I think I don't think it's that bad)

Ehhh: It's Late.

Why'd you ruin a perfect album Stevie?: Whenever i Call You Friend

Really good: Long Distance Winner, Thousand Days, Whenever I Call You Friend, Sleeping Angel

Blech: Twisted (LOVE the soundtrack version, but not this one!), Somebody Stand by Me, Free Fallin'

Yuck yuck yuck: Rhiannon

Simply The Best: Long Distance Winner, Blue Lamp

Great: Twisted, Free Fallin', Sleeping Angel, Gold And Braid, Reconsider Me

Good: Gold, Battle Of The Dragon, Whenever I Call You Friend, Violet And Blue, It's Late, Sweet Girl, Rhiannon

Below Average For Stevie: Thousand Days (RAL demo versions are so much better than... *this*), Somebody Stand By Me

Fabulous: Gold, Long Distance Winner, Blue Lamp, Sleeping Angel, Battle of the Dragon, Reconsider Me

Okay: It's Late, Free Fallin'

Eh...: Sweet Girl, Somebody Stand By Me (FAB vocal, though), Whenever I Call You Friend

The Pits: Twisted (I don't care for this one), Thousand Days, Violet and Blue, Rhiannon

To Run Over The Stones & Down To The Sea For: SLEEPING ANGEL (Remix), BATTLE OF THE DRAGON, Gold And Braid, Thousand Days, Violet And Blue, Blue Lamp

To Run Up The Stairs & Down The Hall For: It's Late, Free Fallin', Long Distance Winner, Sweet Girl (100 times better than the anemic 'Dance' version), Twisted (great look at the songwriting process, but the version with Lindsey is definitely tops)

To Run Through The Garden For: Reconsider Me, Somebody Stand By Me

"Run For Your Life," Cried The Mad Hatter: Rhiannon (Thankfully she redeemed herself with the 'Storytellers' performance), Gold (Great song, but it should NEVER have been on Stevie's boxed-set), Whenever I Call You "Friend" (Ditto)

Excellent: Sleeping Angel, Gold and Braid, Thousand Days, Violet and Blue, Blue Lamp, Somebody Stand By Me, Long Distance Winner, Gold (I've always loved this, even if it's not really a Stevie song)

Pretty Good: Reconsider Me, It's Late (now that I think about it, "Stevie Sings Rockabilly" sounds like a great idea for an album), Free Fallin', Sweet Girl (I like the Dance Version better), Twisted

Fair: Rhiannon

No, no, no: Battle of the Dragon (blech), Whenever I Call You Friend

I think The Dance version has MUCH better vocals. They're much more powerful and strong, especially at the end. The Enchanted version is too restrained.

The only part of the 'Dance' version that I prefer, is the little, "weeelllllll, come down here for a minute" part Stevie sings towards the end.

But beyond that, I prefer the 'Enchanted' version, both vocally and musically. It has more of a groove, and Stevie's vocals are more buoyant... the 'Dance' version is too laidback for my tastes, and is the one that I feel has the more restrained vocals overall.

I should add that I wasn't even all that wild about "Sweet Girl" until 'Enchanted' was released. The demo version made all the difference in the world for me. :)

Speaking of Sweet Girl The Dance and Sweet Girl Enchanted, I have very poor ears for key differences, but did they change the key of Sweet Girl for The Dance. It just sounds like she's singing a little higher on the verses on the Enchanted version...unless she's singing in the same key but like, a third up or something. Musicians, what's going on here?

I think the last minute of that song on The Dance has vocals that are equally as powerful as Silver Springs. I think that it shows how much her voice has matured but also how much control she has over it and how it may be deeper, but it's much stronger than before. But that's just me. :wavey:
