Break Down of Then Play On
Amazingly Awseame Oh Well (man is that 7 minute ending awseome), Rattlesnake Shake, My Dream, Underway, Before The Beginning
Great: Closing My eyes, Comijg Your Way Good-The Madges OK- Although the Sun Is Shinning, Like Crying Bad- Show Biz Blues Has there ever been ANYTHING SO incredibly HORRID- When You Say. |
Pretty much agree, except...."Show Biz Blues"! One of my favorites from the album. My views of some of the songs changes according to the mood I'm in when I'm listening to them - I might be tempted to flip-flop the songs in your "great" and "good" categories.
"When You Say" just shows how useful programming your CD player can be  One of the band's low points IMHO. It demonstrates how serious Peter was about splitting the songwriting for the album with Danny - there's no other reason I can think of for why that song made it onto the album. And although it's very nice, I generally program out "My Dream" as well, just because it wasn't on the original US vinyl version of the album (which was what I was used to listening to for so many years). Now when is that remastered CD coming out??!! |
For me...
Awesome: everything EXCEPT "When You Say" Horrid: When You Say |

I don't think I can add anything else here... except that I adore the Madges. What When You Say does on this album will be a question that'll puzzle me forever. One of the best albums ever made and then such a dissonant (quality-wise)... gerald |
It's kind of interesting that, except for "Coming Your Way", Danny's songs on TPO were rarely played live according to the setlists that I've seen from '69 & '70. Instead, Danny's featured live songs were mainly "Like It This Way", "Only You", "Something Inside Of Me", and sometimes one or two others. As chiliD has pointed out, "Oh Well" featured Danny's guitar work (although remember that "Oh Well" was not originally on the album, but two more of Danny's songs were on there - "One Sunny Day" and "Without You").
But then...other than "Rattlesnake Shake" and "Before the Beginning", Peter's songs from TPO were not played live much if at all either. I'm not counting the "Underway" or "Madge" jams - I think those are credited to the whole group if I remember correctly in any case. Don't know what all that means, but it is surprising that they played relatively few songs from what was then their current LP on their '69 & '70 tours. |

Sort of set the trend for Fleetwood Mac sets to come. ;) |

album with many different eyes. This was their Sgt. Pepper! It was the end of their blues band period (where's Jeremy?) and the beginning of their and every other great band of that era's giant step. Too bad that all 3 lead guitarist's never made it past this album. 2 carried on for Kiln House..then they were gone. (with great respect for Christine during these times)... yadda yadda yadda....Buckingham Nicks happened. |
Fantastic: Oh Well, Rattlesnake Shake, Coming Your Way, My Dream, Before The Beginning, Underway
Great: Closing My Eyes, Show-Biz Blues, Like Crying Good: Searching For Madge, Fighting For Madge, Although The Sun Is Shining Tollerable: When You Say Nothing "incredibly disgusting" about this album. :) |
