I caught the "late" showing last night. I thought it was real good. It was the first time I heard any of Heart's new stuff, as I haven't picked up the cd yet. The "Perfect Goodbye" made me want to hear more. I really enjoyed listening to it. Could have been taken from the Dog and Butterfly set. It's a pretty song with a biting message! Rockers and ballads alike in the set. From the rather raucous opening of "Magic Man" to the heart wrenching closer "Love Hurts", the vocals of Ann, Wynnona, and Nancy were, for lack of a better word, impressive. Those gals can sing! It was funny, when asked during one of the interview segments, why do you cover Zeppelin songs, the answer was "BECAUSE WE CAN". Actually Wynnona answered it, but I thought it was a GOOD answer. Ann and Nancy said they started covering Zeppelin back in the 70s, more because they thought it was a cool image to portray onstage, in an androgynous way. "Magic Man", "Dog And Butterfly"(a request/demand by Wynnona), and "Perfect Goodbye" were the Heart songs done. Did I miss any? Then at least two from Wynnona, which I can't name because I don't really know her music that well. I think one was "No One Else On Earth". When introducing the song Wynnona said, "NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH CAN SING LIKE THIS WOMAN"!, referring to Ann. Then there were two covers, "Rock And Roll" and "Love Hurts". Nancy said, "after working with these two (Ann and Wynnona) for several weeks, they could be sisters". There must be some kind of a soul connection between them. I definitely can say that they both have powerhouse voices and they do actually look somewhat alike too(no jokes please):). Anyway, it's a cool show, as most of these Crossroads shows are.
Thanks for the heads up everyone. I'd miss so much good stuff if it wasn't for my Ledge connections!
