40th Anniversary-2007

What's going to happen? Are we gonna see a new Mac album? new box-set? Either way are we going to see the same line-up? Will Chris be back (fingers crossed  )? What are everyones thoughs and theories and in particular if you think we will see a new collection, what songs from SYW do you think will be on it?

I think 2007 would make sense for the next album. Especially if Lindsey and Stevie do slo stuff. 2007 woulkd make alot of sense for the next big thing in Mac land. heck look at all the 7 years since the band started.

1967- DUH the band was formed. Obviouls y the bigges event in mac history because nothing can happen until the band has begun

1977- Rumours biggest selling mac album major tour. Just clearly although it has since been played to death in concert and on the radio, this was fleetwood mac's biggest year.

1987- Big Tango in The Night album, Lindsey leaves the band,

1997- The Dance reuniting of the rumours line up. The band was going down a different path for awhile and all of a sudden in 1997 a rebirth of the old line up ocured.

2007- I'm guessing this will be the band's next and FINAL album. Hck if they go on longer great, but the 40th annerversery, makes sense if they releases a nice big album and followed it up with a Huge farewell tour, with the final date of the tour being a big concert with all 16 members of the band

Wow... that's quite a description for 2007. I really like the part where all members of Fleetwood Mac reunite on tour. That's a rockin idea. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed historical significance of years ending in 7. makes ya go "hmmm.."

I'm just going to happy when this year won't be the end. any hopes of future Mac albums makes me happy. Mick did say 5-7 years. That's enough time for 2 maybe 3 more albums.

In my opinion, there will never be a final Fleetwood Mac album. They'll go on forever, 'cuz they're that good. [/blatantly overused Stevie lyric]

'cept Bekka Bramlett, Dave Mason and Dave Walker! They don't count. Let them continue doing the fried chicken circuit, which they're so good at doing.

It is astounding the number of members this band has had over the years. But what is even more astounding is that, given all of their various poisons and psychoses, not a single one of 'em has died. And from what I can tell, they're all in good health. Well, physically anyway. ;-)

2007 does seem to be an eternity away, even though it is less than three years off. But it does make sense. However, if Stevie and Lindsey are truly committed to doing solo projects after this tour, I don't think 2007 is realistic. 2008, maybe. These kids never worked quickly in the past, so what makes you think they're going to start now? ;-) I mean, the only reason why SYW followed the heels of TISL so "quickly" is that a) most of it was already recorded in the mid 90s, b) most of Stevie's songs were old demos and c) they had lots of major label interest. If they are going to truly collaborate on new songs together and start recording from the ground up, it's going to take double/triple the time to produce. Additionally, since SYW pretty much laid an egg commercially, I don't think WB is going to be begging them to produce another album quickly. Or if they do, they're going to be so meddlesome that this will cause delays as well, especially if they pull the old "I don't hear a single" cliche.

Perhaps if they stop touring, take some well-deserved time off and then start writing songs together at the beginning of next year, we will see another FM album in 2007. And personally I would rather see one solid FM album than 10 solo albums by Stevie and Lindsey.

I'm thinking that WB special products (nee "Rhino") will probably re-issue the last remaining remastered/remixed/bonus disc versions of FMac's catalogue, for the 40th anniversary. And, probably issue a 4 (or more) disc boxed set, too.

Hmm, ChiliD didn't react to that one. "What's The World Coming To"? ;)

Some comments aren't worthy of a reply.

I don't think they are going to declare an official end. I think when the time is right for a new album, one will come.
