The Stepford Wives *spoilers*

I must say that I have a new favorite movie. And I must admit that I've seen it twice today. Sad, I know, but I live to laugh and this movie certainly made me do just that.

First of all, I thought Nicole looked GREAT with the short brown hair. Fantastic, I think. Bette had me on the floor. "Maybe I'll attach a pinecone to my vibrator and have a VERY merry Christmas." The twist ending was very unexpected and I liked it, I'm glad it didn't end like the original with the scene in the grocery store. Glenn Close looked like she was having a blast.

I've read the reviews and it's as if the critics went in expecting a serious movie that contained the meaning of life. I was very surprised that the tone of the movie was SO campy, everything was played to hilt. The music was ridiculous, the costumes outrageous, the one-liners had me on the floor, I mean it was great.

"He used to work at AOL."
"Is that why your wife is so slow?"

On Letterman Bette said the big difference between this version & the original is that this one is trying to be a comedy, not a horror, remember?

I'm not sure that I'll pay to see it, but I do like Glenn Close. I think she's a real talent.

I take it from your post that the reviews have not been good? I have not seen any yet.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the film.

There are a number of reviews that say it's better than the original and it works better as comedy, so I think it's all a matter of taste. Then there are some reviews that bash it for being made at this particular time, blah blah blah (the whole feminist BS). But all of the reviews I've read say that Bette and the gay "wife" steal the show. And they do. :D

The only thing that I disliked was that it was way too short and it seemed like they edited it down a lot. There were many different endings shot, so I'm looking forward to the DVD.

Yeah, I'm concerned that this kind of movie is often premise and schtick at the expense of any real plot. But it sounds like you're going to tell me you liked the plot.

The plot is the exact same as the original, except the ending has a twist to it. ;)

This formula didn't work so well for the re-make of Planet Of The Apes.

Well, that movie simply sucked from beginning to end. It was torture. They should use it at Abu Ghairib.

It was a bad movie, but I'm skeptical of most re-makes of good movies. I find them unnecessary.

I agree, but I think it's worth a shot if they are going to offer something new to it, like a genre change a la "Stepford Wives" from thriller to dark comedy. If they can pull it off and have it work, more power to them.

The movie was very, very funny especially Glenn Close. I looove Christopher Walken. And Bette and the gay wife were great. It worked well as a comedy. I think you'd have to see it twice just to catch all of the one liners. I enjoyed it.

I saw Saved Sunday night. Believe it or not, Mandy Moore did a great job. The movie has its sweet and predictable parts for sure, but I think you'd really like the humor in it.

Glad you enjoyed it! My favorite part was at the book club meeting, that whole bit was PRICELESS.

I've actually been wanting to see it. There so many good movies out and coming out, I can't keep up. I can't wait to see the new Kim Basinger/Jeff Bridges movie, it looks GREAT.

I hear the satire is not as scathing as it could be, and that it lets religious zealots off the hook.

I don't know, I guess I'm only interested if it's pointed, biting satire...considering the subject matter...

Glad to hear you liked it. I've only read bad reviews so this cheers me up a little. I'm definitely going to see it now.
