At This Point, What Song Should The Shows Close With? (*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*)

IMO Don't Stop should be one of the songs to be dropped. I didn't hate it on the earlier legs, but there are better songs to use. IMO Stevie & Lindsey should stick to their own songs rather than Christine's at this point. I'd love for them to close with Frozen Love, Seven Wonders, Crystal, or SOTM.

What do you think would fit as the last song on this leg?

I think that keeping Don't Stop in there is a smart move, and not just because it gets everyone clapping and dancing to the shuffle with big smiles on their faces... But because so much of the audience became fans from Christine's songs, I think that they owe it to the fans to at least play one.
Seven Wonders, I wish! They did a great job with it on the TITN tour.
Frozen Love and Crystal would be great... for us crazy fans.

Well the shows don't close with Don't Stop, they close with Goodbye Baby. I think Storms would be a good replacement for Goodbye Baby though.

I'm all for honoring Chris, just with a different song and a different place in the set. JMO. But you're right, much of the crowd does enjoy the song.

If I'm not mistaken, GB was dropped on this leg.

I thought they closed out their show with GYOW and GB, and I love Don't Stop, too bad Christine doesn't realize the legacy she should remain apart of, but anyhow it is a Fleetwood Mac song, not just a Christine McVie song.

I believe it was only dropped from the first couple of shows, and then returned.
In fact, I think it returned when "Destiny Rules" disappeared.

Personally, I like that Lindsey & Stevie are doing "Don't Stop." It's hard for me to imagine anyone else singing Christine's songs... although I know it's always been a part of Fleetwood Mac's history to continue performing songs by former members. But I think that, of all of Chris' tunes, "Don't Stop" is about the only one that someone else can get away with singing. And maybe it's because Lindsey was already singing the co-lead on it.
Same with "World Turning."

earthdreamer 05-30-2004 12:26 AM

Stevie wrote "World Turning" not Chris, she was just one of the lead in vocals. I never really cared about Christine's songs, at least not to the point I was disappointed with Fleetwood Mac, I saw Fleetwood Mac minus the line up of Stevie, Lindsey, and Christine, with only Mick and John the founding members, and I still felt the magic of those songs, I guess it just all comes down to the roots of a band, and the passion of the music.

I always think "Don't Stop" will be lame going into a concert, and granted there are many other songs I'd like to hear, but I admit that "Don't Stop" is fun once it gets started. It's a great sing-a-long song.

Let's see...I would love to see them end with "Crystal" or "Storms." I like GB well enough, though.

I like the fact that Don't Stop is played minus Christine... they do a fine job of it. And I think the tempo of ending on a sombre note with Goodbye Baby is good too... I'd like to see them shuffle GB into the set where Landslide is and end the show with Landslide... They could still do the dedication to the audience or whom ever... and still do the little hug and stand there and take the applause... Then Mick and John could come walking out... stand beside the two of them... Take their bows and Mick could say his speach... I think that would be pretty great.

Actually, no... Christine & Lindsey co-wrote "World Turning."
It started out as a jam inspired by Peter Green's song "The World Keep On Turning." :)

earthdreamer 05-30-2004 02:00 AM

Okay. Maybe so. But I still don't care if Christine's is singing it or not. Lindsey and Stevie rocks it just fine imho! :p

ryan8472 05-30-2004 06:25 AM

Crystal. I'd die if they played that song. I must admit, even though we have a pretty much set-in-stone setlist, Fleetwood Mac has done a great job of playing (some of) the songs that the die-hards really wanted to hear ~ Eyes Of The World, Beautiful Child, Sara, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Don't Let Me Down Again, plus the SYW songs like Destiny Rules, Red Rover, etc... Having said that, I wouldn't count out anything from now on with the Mac  . So I still have hope for Crystal!

dissention 05-30-2004 07:50 AM

Crystal. They should alternate between each other when singing the verses, then sing the chorus together in harmony. I'd have heart palpitations.

goldie 05-30-2004 07:56 AM

I'd like them to bring back Station Man ... but that probably wouldn't work as a closer.
