Bushisms
You've probably all seen these George W. Bush quotes before... I've seen a list before but nothing this deliriously long. I am dying of laughter!
There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee...that says, fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again. 9/17/2002 http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_bushisms.html I'm conservative, but I'm not a nut about it. Our nation must come together to unite. I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well. You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test. We must all hear the universal call to like your neighbor just like you like to be liked yourself. I have a different vision of leadership. A leadership is someone who brings people together. I mean, there needs to be a wholesale effort against racial profiling, which is illiterate children. Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time. In my sentences I go where no man has gone before. One of the common denominators I have found is that expectations rise above that which is expected. The most important job is not to be governor, or first lady in my case. There's not going to be enough people in the system to take advantage of people like me. We are ready for any unforeseen event which may or may not happen. They want the federal government controlling Social Security like it's some kind of federal program. I appreciate that question because I, in the state of Texas, had heard a lot of discussion about a faith-based initiative eroding the important bridge between church and state. For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings. And, folks, this is unacceptable in America. It's just unacceptable. And we're going to do something about it. This administration is doing everything we can to end the stalemate in an efficient way. We're making the right decisions to bring the solution to an end. One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures. Should any Iraqi officer or soldier receive an order from Saddam Hussein.... don't follow that order. Because if you choose to do so, when Iraq is liberated, you will be treated, tried and persecuted as a war criminal. [1/22/03] The law I sign today directs new funds and new focus to the task of collecting vital intelligence on terrorist threats and on weapons of mass production. [11/27/2002] A lame duck session, for people who don't know what that means, it means the Senate is coming and the House is coming back between now and Christmas and they've got a few days to get some big things done. [11/7/2002] I was proud the other day when both Republicans and Democrats stood with me in the Rose Garden to announce their support for a clear statement of purpose, "You disarm, or we will." [10/5/2002] If you find a neighbor in need, you're responsible for serving that neighbor in need, you're responsible for loving a neighbor just like you'd like to love yourself. [11/16/2002] There's only one person who hugs the mothers and the widows, the wives and the kids upon the death of their loved one. Others hug but having committed the troops, I've got an additional responsibility to hug and that's me and I know what it's like. [12/13/2002] I mentioned early on that I recognize there are hurdles, and we're going to achieve those hurdles. [1/22/2003] People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history. The administration I'll bring is a group of men and women who are focused on what's best for America, honest men and women, decent men and women, women who will see service to our country as a great privilege and who will not stain the house. It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it. I understand small business growth. I was one. He can't have it both ways. He can't take the high horse and then claim the low road. Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning? Will the highways on the Internet become more few? We cannot let terrorists hold this nation hostile or hold our allies hostile. There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee...that says, fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again. [9/17/2002] As governor of Texas, I have set high standards for our public schools, and I have met those standards. I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves. (September 21, 2003) As Luce reminded me, he said, without data, without facts, without information, the discussions about public education mean that a person is just another opinion. (September 9, 2003) Washington is a town where there's all kinds of allegations. You've heard much of the allegations. And if people have got solid information, please come forward with it. And that would be people inside the information who are the so-called anonymous sources, or people outside the information — outside the administration. (September 30, 2003) That woman who knew I had dyslexia: I never interviewed her. :]  |
Truly he is a man of staggering intellect. Thanks for posting those, Joe. :xoxo:
By the way, am I the only person who loves the "word," "strategery"? |
My favorite Bush word is "misunderestimated".

The best ones are the ones where he refers to the Iraqi's as "the brown people" and the one where he "denounced" interracial dating and bigotry in the same sentence. |
I just HAD to post these:
Saddam Hussein is a man who invaded two countries twice -- two countries, once each time. -- Washington, D.C., Sep. 25, 2002 And we're making progress. It's hard to tell whether we're making progress or not, but we are. -- Trenton, New Jersey, Sep. 23, 2002 They act out of hatred. We don't seek revenge. We seek justice out of love. -- And via cruise missile, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Aug. 29, 2002 ( ) No, I know all the war rhetoric, but it's all aimed at achieving peace. -- Reassuring words, Madison Central High School, Madison, Mississippi, Aug. 7, 2002 There's a lot of war talk these days, as there should be, but it's all aimed at making sure the world is peaceful. -- Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan, July 18, 2002 We have overcome a recession. That means things are going backwards. -- Dubya seems intent on burning this meaningless phrase into the ground, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mar. 26, 2004 We've been through a recession. That means things are going backwards. -- Ahhh, that's what it means, Nashua, New Hampshire, Mar. 25, 2004  Heck, we're 5 percent of the world's population, which means there's 95 percent of the people ready for products that say, "Made in the USA." -- I guess the American 5 percent will have to continue buying products made in China, Washington, D.C., Mar. 16, 2004 Recession means that people's incomes, at the employer level, are going down, basically, relative to costs, people are getting laid off. -- So that's what it means, Washington, D.C., Feb. 19, 2004 We want to make sure our wallets all across the country are healthy. -- Dubya proposes a health care plan for wallets, Philadelpia, Pennsylvania, Jan. 31, 2004 Unemployment dropped today to 5.7 percent. -- Somehow, unemployment managed to drop in a single day. Dubya sure has his finger on the pulse of the economy. Washington, D.C., Jan. 9, 2004 Today, the unemployment rate dropped, as you may know, from 6 percent to 5.9 percent. -- At that rate we'll be at full employment in two months, Halethorpe, Maryland, Dec. 5, 2003 You can't tax the rich enough to pay for his promises. Guess who he's going to tax? He's going to tax me and you. -- This is perhaps one of the funniest things I've ever heard Dubya say. Dubya isn't rich... he's middle class just like you and me. Lebanon, Ohio, May 4, 2004 I'm also running [for re-election] because I want to keep us -- I want to enable us to be the innovative society that we are. -- Enabling us to be what we are? That's inspiring. Kalamazoo, Michigan, May 3, 2004 We can compete with anybody -- at least, I think so. -- Well, as long as Dubya thinks so... Washington, D.C., Mar. 16, 2004 |
