Question - LB Guitar Stand Back

In songs like this one where Carlos and Neale basically play the song...does Lindsey actually play...or just mess around...or does he play some light guitar or what? I'm no guitar ificienado (sp?) , So I'm sure some of you are...I'm just wondering if he actually does play in Stand Back...cause I know Carlos plays the solo...and a lot of the song is keyboard oriented..let me know

Also this way when I watch my Say You Will Tour bootleg videos around people who arent really fans (like my aunt, etc)...And they say HE'S NOT EVEN PLAYING! I will have something to say in his defense! lol

Well, this tour it seemed that he played more on it than on The Dance tour...but, that's not saying much. Maybe it is because he didn't have Christine (who I didn't think played very much on it either, just left the keyboard parts to Brett) to kibbutz with during the song. He just hammed it up with whoever was down in front of him...then kind of halfassedly noodled for a few bars.

Carlos played the solo? I thought it was Neale...at least he played the slide guitar parts.

All of this brings me to the inevitable question: What's the point? If the whole band isn't really on board with playing this song, why do it? It's not like FM doesn't have a huge repertoire.

Silly, nyet?

But, Stevie needs an uptempo song for the set and since she seems reluctant to do the old favourites like they used to be (ye olde "Rhiannon" extension) or to add new ones (like "Everybody Finds Out") then let it stay. Even though it's still a bit ridiculous that she still insists on using the same old tone colours. Come on SN, it's not like its "incredible energy" is dependant of those. ;)

Oh, but Lindsey's lip-synching is important for "SB", especially when it's as high quality as in his videos.

In a blink of an eye. I thought exactly the same. creepy ;) .

Seems to me that "Angel" would be a good replacement for "Dreams", not "Stand Back". And, remember, "Stand Back" STARTED in Fleetwood Mac's set during the Vito/Burnette years, Buckingham wasn't there. Now, if they'd just do some OTHER non-Buckingham Nicks era tunes (pre or post) , I might get enthused to see them again.

Amen, brothah!

"Stand Back" needs to go, go, GO!

For the record, I am not fond of Angel on Tusk and I think the live versions were not very good. I know - sacriledge, but it is what I think. Perhaps now qith her current voice and her adherence to harmony, she could do it better. But, even then, I am still not a huge fan of the song. Plus, Stand Back just electrifies the audience and certainly her - so I say keep it in.

Maybe if they played Bob WELCH's "Angel" instead...

...sorry just thinking with my fingers. Never mind.

They could bring back Sisters of the Moon. Hell, forget that. Everybody Finds Out would be a great replacement for Stand Back.

Even as a Stevie and Stand Back lover, I completely agree. But, I see people's point that it is her "energy number" in the show, while still being a "comfort song" for her, so they don't want to see it go. Personally, I'd trade in the "energy number" for something we've never (or rarely) seen live before, even if it's something low-key.

wondergirl9847 05-12-2004 12:58 PM

Why...

Can she not do Storms?! It's not a taxing song to sing, there is no Rhiannon-esque screaming or anything and it's VERY emotional. I would give up Beautiful Child (my fave Tusk song, btw) for Storms.

At this point, I would also give up ISA for Tango in the Night.

I know.
