Soundstage CD & DVD tentatively scheduled

Thanks to Tracy G., Mike & Hayley for this information....

According to record company release sheets, Fleetwood Mac's Soundstage performance is tentatively scheduled to be released the week of May 2nd, on CD and DVD.

Seems too good to be true. But then that explains the almighty rush to finish it. Lindsey, Mick and Stevie were apparently flying to Geneva after the Australian tour (if not directly) to record overdubs. I'm wrapped then.... because this will be like The Dance but with the powerful new arrangements, new songs, and general rocking out of this tour! As well as something to rival 'Landslide' from The Dance... Say Goodbye. I just hope that the Boston concert was something to equal the shows I saw in Australia. Going by the 'SHN' taping shown on Dick Clark's NYE, it looked great. The band seem to put on an extra special show when they know they're being taped.

Hopefully the DVD will include the full setlist, but obviously the CD will need to be cut down to about 16 or 17 tracks, unless they release a double set (which I highly doubt).

So, for a little bit of fun... from the setlist below, which tracks would everyone most prefer they include on a CD?
Limiting it to 16 or 17.

The Chain
Dreams
Eyes Of The World
Peacekeeper
Second Hand News
Say You Will
Never Going Back Again
Rhiannon
Come
Gypsy
Big Love
Landslide
Say Goodbye
What's The World Coming To
Beautiful Child
Gold Dust Woman
I'm So Afraid
Silver Springs
Tusk
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way
World Turning
Don't Stop
Goodbye Baby

My preferred track-listing:

1. The Chain
2. Eyes Of The World (editing out most of the drum intro, which sounds a little too similar to the drum intro for "SHN")
3. Say You Will
4. Peacekeeper
5. Second Hand News
6. Gypsy
7. Say Goodbye
9. What's The World Coming To
10. Beautiful Child
11. Gold Dust Woman
12. Tusk
13. Stand Back
14. Go Your Own Way
15. World Turning (with the drum-pad solo seriously edited down)
16. Goodbye Baby

Remember how Lindsey wanted 'Gypsy' and 'EOTW' to make The Dance CD cut, and not 'Rhiannon', but got overruled by the label? Maybe this time he'll get his wish and Rhiannon won't make the cut! (Scandalous I know..) And from the label's eyes its a fairly reasonable since The Dance, with Rhiannon and all, was only released fairly recently. That said, the label may again be of the opinion that 'not enough people will buy it if it doesn't come with Dreams and Rhiannon'. We can only hope Lindsey won this time.. except that I think Rhiannon was way better this time around than The Dance (regardless of the piano intro). And yeah JS - after watching the 'Destiny Rules' doco, it seems unlikely that this CD release will be a double one! :distress:

1 The Chain
2 Eyes Of The World
3 Peacekeeper
4 Second Hand News
5 Say You Will
6 Never Going Back Again
7 Rhiannon (Lindsey's harmonies are too good to discard)
8 Come
9 Gypsy
10 Say Goodbye
11 What's The World Coming To
12 Beautiful Child
13 Silver Springs
14 Go Your Own Way
15 World Turning (with heavily edited drum solo - awesome in concert, but not much point on CD IMO)
16 Goodbye Baby

I will submit to Dreams, but please, Reprise, spare me the draggy assed shadow-it's-former-self Rhiannon has become.

I didn't want to duplicate too many of the tracks from the 'Dance' CD (I only ended up doubling up on 3 songs), but it was really hard for me to not include "Rhiannon," "Landslide" and "Silver Springs" especially.

I wouldn't mind dropping "Second Hand News" for "Rhiannon" though (which, even though it can never quite live up to those mid-70s performances, is really rocking on this tour).

So how about something like this (which also now gives Stevie & Lindsey an even amount of writing credits)....

1. The Chain
2. Eyes Of The World
3. Say You Will
4. Peacekeeper
5. Rhiannon
6. Say Goodbye
7. Gypsy
9. What's The World Coming To
10. Beautiful Child
11. Gold Dust Woman
12. Tusk
13. Stand Back
14. Go Your Own Way
15. World Turning (w/ edited drum-solo)
16. Goodbye Baby

How can you not have Come in there? That's probably the highlight of the new songs (or possibly Say Goodbye).

David R 03-19-2004 05:39 AM

Dvd and CD? How very interesting. I hope everything is on the dvd, I am not so concerned about the CD because I can just record from the dvd on a cd. But of course I will buy the cd too.

I never knew they were putting this on CD too! I guess everyone who thought there would be a live album from this tour was right! As for the edit I'd choose...

1. The Chain
2. Dreams
3. Peacekeeper
4. Eyes of the World
5. Say You Will
6. Come
7. Gypsy
8. Big Love
9. Landslide
10. Say Goodbye
11. Beautiful Child
12. Gold Dust Woman
13. Tusk
14. Stand Back
15. Go Your Own Way
16. World Turning (edit)
17. Goodbye Baby

I kept it at 17 to be about the same length as The Dance CD. Now, the only thing that would be better than the Boston show being released would be if the Columbus show were released instead, with RTTG and Destiny Rules  .

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it! Although, I'll be this cd/dvd will not sell as many as the Dance, but I am glad they decided to do this. Us FM fans are getting spoiled lately! Documentory, dvds, new tour, reissues! I love it!

I hope the cd includes all of the new songs sans Come. And they should not have Silver Springs on the cd because that was sort of the highlight of the Dance. So SS would seem forced and it wouldn't make the Dance version as special, does anyone get what I am saying?

The Pattie factor! The secret to any tapeworthy concert. ;)
"I never perform without it," endorses Fleetwood Mac frontman Lindsey Buckingham.

Available at most shows.
