If You Ever Did Believe

I've only heard the "official" version of this, from the Practical Magic soundtrack. How many demos were recorded of this? And where can I get them? :)

Well according to www.sararhiannon.com there are three demos.

I like all the demos better than the PM version. They have more bounce.

You're going to hear one of them on the "Rumours" thing from Rhino.

Now won't THAT be cool?!

I must've missed that one when I was reading the track lists...let me look again.

Wish I could, but I don't have the software.
And believe it or not, the copies I have are on cassette.

I finally heard one of the demos...it was posted on a website (I can't think of which one at the moment).

I'm not sure if the demos were all recorded around the same time, but judging from Stevie's vocals, this one sounds like it was recorded around 1978-79. Her singing is definitely more "lively" than on the Practical Magic version, but there's something about her latter-day vocals that I just really like.

I know there's a Tusk one. If I remember, that's my favorite.

I felt everything Sheryl touched took some bounce away from Stevie's songs. Then again, most of Shery's own songs seem a bit mellow and draggy to me. But If You Ever Did Believe is my favorite of all the Sheryl-produced ones.

I've only heard one demo of this, and its got lots of pretty steal guitar in it and just sounds so Tammy Wynette. :D
