Sara video
Wow! I just saw this for the first time on VH1 Classic Videos (a new station for me). It was on at 8:00 p.m. est. I've never seen it before. Actually, I've never seen any of their videos. It was filmed live somewhere. My question is, where was it filmed? Stevie really looked good with her hair up, BTW.

I have some beautiful framed pics with Stevie in that orangey red chiffon garment. I love that look.
That clip of 'Sara' comes from the Documentary/Live Concert video that was released in 1981. For some reason St Louis comes to mind but I'm probably having memory overlapses with "Fleetwood Mac Live" the album. |
Uggh-do you guys really like that hair? IMO it is the worst she has ever had- it looks like The Permed Blob That Ate Tokyo (and then landed on Stevie's head!).

I like the hair, the live song, the halo around her head...
She looks like a Gibson Girl. Plus, everybody agrees she looks good in red (or whatever that color is). - Jake |

Anyways...I absolutely love the 'Sara' video. Especially at the end. Lindsey plays a solo that I'm pretty sure isn't in the studio version and it just has the "it" factor. |
Don't get me wrong-I'm not saying I don't love the video-and she sang really well, but I am saying The Permed Blob ties for first place with the White Poodle Pelt wove into the back of her hair in TITN video. Did you notice how it just hung down her neck and back in one big clump? If she turned or moved her head all of the natural hair on the top half moved naturally or moved around (well thats probably not true either but it looked more natural in its bleached and frizzed out way) but The Poodle Pelt was it's own entity that did not move in tandem with anything else. That's my problem with The Permed Blob, too. It is so big and overwhelms her little head that to me that is all you can notice. Which is too bad because she has great clothes and sings good. If the hair were just toned down a little....

Anyway, Stevie looks like a victorian, turn-of-the-century goddess in that video. That was a common hair style back then. Many women threw their hair up in buns like that....of course, the permed look was in too. You laugh, but the styles come back every so often. |

I love that Sara/Tusk hair, and that shawl. She did get a bad perm, but she sure made the most of it. I love wearing that hair-do myself in the summer. It's cool and comfy. And you don't need a bad perm to pull it off! (hee!)
About the color, I read some article once about the color red, and it said that men found the orangey-red color to be attractive and women find the cooler shades of red (reds with purple or blue undertones) more attractive. I have no idea if that is true though. Then again, it also said the scent of pumpkin was a turn-on for guys! I am not so crazy about that Tango do, though. It's like, let it be straight, or let it be curly and puffy. But together - not a favorite of mine. Nope. But her hair in the Seven Wonders video was so pretty. I don't understand why she didn't keep it like that for the rest of that Tango era. Must have been an experimental time? |

BTW, I think the BTM frizz hair was the worst for Stevie. - Jake |
But you know, being about 15 when "Little Lies" was released as a single, I remember buying it at Woolworth's, and thinking that Stevie's hair on the cover was just about the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
I mean, remember this was 1987, and it was totally fashionable for a woman to have her hair all coifed on top, with straight extensions and color streaks. Stevie did it, Ann & Nancy Wilson did it, Cyndi Lauper did it (in her own inimitable way)... and heck, half the girls I knew tried to do it (they never did quite succeed)! At the time, it was just really hip, really glamorous "rock star hair"... it's easy to laugh at it now, but at the time, it was ultra-stylish and cool. (Now, where did I put my old parachute pants, and the shirt with all the buckles? Hmm.......) |
