Lindsey's Chet Atkins and Renaissance
I read that Rick Turner modifies LIndsey's Chet Atkins. WHat does he exactly make different?
I also am wondering if each string has an individual output where they are each tracked by a synth like his Renaissance models. How are his Renaisance models different from his CHet Atkins? |
Lindsey's main Turner Renaissance guitar is the RS-6: a steel string acoustic semi-hollow body guitar. LB also has RN-6s (nylon version) and a baritone six-string. Rick has fitted all of these Renaissance models with Roland GK guitar synth pickups and each string has its own output and can send either a dry signal to the amp or trigger a Roland GR-50 guitar synth (or VG-8), which adds a very sweet background layer to the dry sound. (See the clip of LB playing WTWCT on his own on the couch for a perfect example of this.)
The Chet Atkins CE is not made by Rick Turner and is a totally different type of guitar. It's a Gibson solid body electro-classical guitar with nylon strings. Rick modified all of LB's by replacing the standard pickups with a set of custom-made hexaphonic units and also by installing a custom-made Turner pre-amp. The Chet Atkins' signal goes through the Roland VG-8 processor and the sound comes out of standard Trace Elliot acoustic guitar amps. All Chet Atkins CE guitars have internal individual string volume controls as standard. |
