TUSK Question
 

I finally got my hands on a Tusk LP (mostly for the artwork, I have it on CD) and I was wondering who did the collages on the inner sleeves, they are very interesting? Also whose writting is it all over those sleeves?

Also I bought a FM Live LP, it's a promo copy and I was wondering, all the tracks were recorded from the Tusk tour (correct me if I'm wrong here), yet one of the inner sleeves gives all the tour dates, cities and attendence records (arenas are so much bigger now), and some of the cities that the LIVE tracks were recorded from are not accounted for in the tour record, most notably Cleveland. What is going on here? Oh in case you are wondering the other sleeve lists where all tracks were recorded and all personel etc.

I agree about all the artwork on the inner sleeves. Tusk is by far my favorite Mac album as far as artwork goes and just how it looks in general. Everytime I look at it, I usually find something new that I didn't notice before. It does say on the back cover that the art direction & design were by Vigon Nahas Vigon. I think Peter Beard did alot of the photography.

Someone had noticed the discrepancies in the Live album. There was a thread about this about a month or so ago. This is from that thread:

Monday Morning, Say You Love Me, Dreams, Over My Head, Rhiannon & Don't Stop were all from the 1977 Rumours tour. Don't Let Me Down Again was from Passaic 1975, the White Album tour. The liner notes are not specific enough. They seem to imply that everything on the album is from the Tusk tour, which is definitely not true.

Peter Beard did the collages. He's well-known for his collages and particuarly, his photography work in Africa. He lives there part of the year.

Cleveland is actually Richfield Colisseum. I think Richfield is just outside of Cleveland.

Besides the aforementioned songs being recorded on the previous tours, you have to also realize that there were overdubs done on this record. And a lot of them too. So, essentially, with the exception of a few tracks, you're not hearing the songs exactly the way the audience heard them. Rhiannon, GYOW, and Dreams have additional background vocals recorded in the studio. I'm not going into the specifics as it's been discussed before but that IS the case.

Also, "Sara" was recorded in St. Louis. It's the same version that's on the "Tusk tour documentary" (Stevie in red shawl, hair up in big onion bun) BUT
when they decided to use the song on the record, they picked the St.Louis version and took out the original vocal and Stevie rerecorded a new vocal at the end of the tour. In addition, that song also has Lindsey and Chris's backing vocals that were added in the studio.
