discrepancy on 1980 "live" album
 

"Over My Head" is credited as being recorded in Witchita (or somewhere out in the midwest...i don't have the album in front of me)....However, that exact tract is pulled right from the Nashville bootleg soundboard.

Just an FYI....don't believe everything you read.

I knew "Over My Head" wasn't from the Tusk tour, since they never did that song on that tour. I didn't know that it had been from the Rumours Nashville show. I just assumed that it was from a Rumours Wichita show. There are ALOT of discrepancies on the Live album. Quite a few of the songs were definitely not from the Tusk tour. "Don't Let Me Down Again" was obviously from the 1975 Passaic show, not from the Tusk tour.

"Dreams", "Don't Stop" & "Rhiannon" also were from the Rumours tour...with the first two being from a soundcheck.

More: I'm 99% sure "Monday morning" was taken from the "Young music show" Japan TV 1977 video footage that's circulated for years as well. :)

P.S. Note that the YMS aired at least twice (in 2 versions), one w/MM and without "Blue letter" and one w/BL and omitting MM.

Even those that are included on the "Live" album that are from the "Tusk" tour, I can see the album/CD liner notes confusing some since the tour dates list no Cleveland shows (though the "Cleveland" tracks were most likely taken from the Richfield, OH shows they list, I do recall NTF (I think) from the "Cleveland footage" used on that "20/20" puff piece as being the same as from the "Live" album (or at least a part of it), if that's of any consolation). :)

The ones where Lindseys guitar sounds like it's going to explode are definitely from the Tusk tour however :D

BTW... Those 20/20 videos on the madnessfades site... Did they film that entire show I wonder? They really do need to have a dig around for old concert footage for a big DVD.

I was just gonna post that, because on Tusk is when he first unveiled the Model 1. In some songs you can tell if it was recorded during the Tusk tour or not because the Turner plays like an atomic bomb during songs like Oh Well and GYOW.

Good question, I wish we could find out, you'd think so though, yet another thing they could make a lot of money on but choose not to for whatever reason, whatever. :)

"Cleveland" & "Richfield" are the same thing. It's kind of like the way we refer to shows at Shoreline Amphitheatre (which is in Mountain View) as being in San Jose, or Landover shows being in Washington D.C.

The whole Richfield/Cleveland (Richfield Coliseum) show was filmed -- maybe even both nights. A lot of different shows were filmed, & I doubt they'll ever see the light of day. They're not necessarily filmed for official release but for marketing & promotional purposes.

The pre-Tusk Tour material on the "Fleetwood Mac Live" album consists of:

1. Monday Morning - Tokyo (Dec. 5, 1977)
2. Say You Love Me - Wichita (my guess is Sept. 18, 1977)
3. Dreams - Paris (April 1977)
4. Over My Head - (see below)**
5. Rhiannon - London's Rainbow Theatre (April 8/9/10, 1977)
6. Don't Let Me Down Again - Passaic (my guess is Oct. 17, 1975)
7. Don't Stop - Paris (April 1977)

**As Joe said, the recently circulated Nashville soundboard (May 21, 1977) contains a performance of "Over My Head" that sounds like the performance on the "Live" album. But something about the soundboard version sounds as if it had been inserted from another source. It doesn't have that slightly faint audience applause that soundboards typically do -- it's much louder, more present. So I'd say that "Over My Head" on the "Live" album is either Nashville back in May or Kansas City (Sept. 16, 1977). Either way, it's definitely a 1977 performance.

All the other stuff on the "Live" album is either Tusk Tour or the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium rehearsals during a break in the tour.

One guy on Usenet many years ago swore up & down that Fleetwood played it at the Madison Square Garden shows in 1979. Even though I had the show on tape (he did not), I got tired of arguing with him (I get tired of arguing with people a lot sooner these days). He was obviously either bombed out of his skull or lying through his teeth.

I have a tape that has both the 20/20 feature as well as a "PM Magazine" (how many of you remember that show....i actuall do)
spot...anyway, there is footage of the Tusk tour on that but i'm not sure where it was taped. I think it was early on. Anyway, they showed clips of "Say You Love Me", "Dreams", and "What Makes you Think You're The One".

Most likely, when you see shows like this, the entire concert is filmed. As a video/film student, you have to shoot all the footage you possibly can and then decide later (during editing) which parts you're going to use. So, most likely, anytime you've seen a concert clip, the whole thing was filmed/taped. I'm still waiting for a 1976 "Silver Springs" to surface.

You know, i kind of questioned this too. I don't know why. I wondered how they could've screwed up the credits on the album. I'm going to have to listen to it a little closer. Ugh, if FM only knew the things we do....

David, that is an interesting point about the audience noise. I originally first thought that too...but it sounded legit to me. Will have to listen a little bit closer. However, Chris spoke at the beginning ("this is the first single we ever had from the white FM album") and that kind of jives with the rest of the tape cause she did a lot of introductions back then. I'd have to listen to some other performances from the same period as Kansas City (9-16-77) to see if the performances (vocals, solos etc) are similar.
