More about the no-show on Parkinson

Hi,

This article was in Saturday's Daily Telegraph in the 'Saturday Spy' (gossip) section:

'Fleetwood Mac too old to party'
"Tonight's Parkinson show - star guest Victoria Beckham - was to have featured a performance by Fleetwood Mac, who recently released their first studio album for 16 years. But on Thursday (the day the show was due to be recorded) "The Mac" suddenly pulled out. Why?

"Parky had a rehersal on the afternoon before the show," says one insider. "But no one from Fleetwood Mac turned up to it. At 3.30pm, we heard on the grapevine that singer Stevie Nicks had overslept and couldn't make it into the studio. Fortunately, David Bowie agreed to perform two songs for us instead of one."

A spokesman for the band yesterday admitted that they had missed Parky's rehersal, but denied that this was due to a hangover. "It's a lovely thought, but they are now in their late fifties, so staying up all night partying doesn't happen any more," I'm told. "There were logistical problems; I can't go into details."

A BBC spokesman adds: "They had various requirements which couldn't be met."

Also, when did anyone say anything about a "hangover"? I like how these Chinese whispers just get decided as to what had happened. Whatever. :)

They probably would have had to set up all of their equipment, tear it down and move it again in a very short period of time. They did Leno and the Today show before the tour started, so they had no limitations that way. I also find it highly unlikely that they just didn't show up. It's not like them. Stevie travels with her own little entourage so I doubt she overslept. Someone must have gotten their wires crossed, that's all.

You pretty much summed up what I was told by someone on the crew. Absolutely no truth in the rumour that Stevie over slept.
