My Oberhausen experience

I had read in almost every review that the show started at 8:15, 8:20 so we were at the venue at 19:45. We thought we had enough time to look around and stuff. NOT!!!! As soon as we took our seats, the lights went out. It was 8:03!!!!! We were just in time. Even though we had the most expensive seats in the house, they were crappy. We could hardly see them. But we were close to the video screen so we watched most of the show on that. The first couple of songs were filmed, there was a camera on a pole which was pretty annoying because when it filmed Stevie, we couldn't see her anymore. After 3 or 4 songs the camera was gone, thank goodness.
The show was fantastic. When The Chain started I got a little choked up, it was such a long time ago when I heard/saw them live right in front of me. Finally they were there and I was there too.
The setlist is exactly the same as in the USA, no changes at all, but that was fine by me. They were there!!!!!!!! Stevie wore the Reeboks and a black dress but not THE DRESS. It looked different. Maybe they altered it. She looked very tired (saw that on the video screen) as if she hadn't slept in days. Her make up was pretty heavy. But her voice sounded crystal clear and she hit all the high notes. The harmonies between her Lindsey were sooooo awesome. Those 2 voices were made for each other, I swear. A definite highlight was GDW. She was screaming at the top of her lungs and got totally into it. We looked at the video screen and her eyes were like fire. That was one angry woman on that stage!!!! GDW was actually the first song of the show where she gave everything she had. Rhiannon was another highlight, she wore the Rumours dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I took pictures but they all failed :o(
When she introduced Beautiful Child, someone sreamed something and she said something like:"That could be it, but it's not though hahahahaha". I don't know what the person said but she laughed like crazy. She dedicated Landslide to us and thanked us for being with them for such a long time. That was really sweet. She rocked the house down with Stand Back. She got totally into it, screaming at the end, twirling.... the real Stevie. WOW!!!!! What a woman!!!!!! The crowd was going nuts.
At one particular moment she was standing at our side of the stage, behind Brett Tuggle, and she was standing in the dark. The audience was a little quiet and at the top of my lungs I yelled:"STEEEEEEEEEVIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIE". I thought she didn't hear me but much to my surprise she turned around and waved!!!!!!! She didn't know it was me of course because we were all in the dark, but still..... MY Stevie moment LOL.
Than Lindsey......... Oh Lord, what a guy. My friend and I gave him a nickname: Psycho Rocker. I thought he was going crazy. He extended the I'm So Afraid solo and it was awesome. He was talking to the audience (Stevie didn't say much) and had them play his guitar and threw them 2 towels. The most funniest moment was when the intro of Stand Back began with all the percussion and stuff. He was standing in the corner and pretended he was Mick in a very funny way. He was slamming his chest and was making faces LOL. He carried the show big time. Slamming his guitar to the floor, doing all sort of things with it and he was brilliant.
Mick & John were..... well, Mick and John. John just stood there, playing his bass and didn't do much of anything. Mick's drumsolo was great, screaming:"The Mac is back". Lindsey was at his side of the stage, sitting on the floor watching Mick, making faces and waving his arms LOL.
For the encores Stevie wore the platforms but she didn't look too comfortable in them. I think the Reeboks are orthpedic shoes, maybe because of her hip and/or back problems.
There was one strange thing though..... everyone was sweating like crazy (even John and he just stood there) except for Stevie. That was pretty weird.
At the end of the show they all took the stage and went from left to right to wave at everyone. Lindsey signed a few things and Stevie shook some hands and than.... it was over. To me they could've played for hours longer.
As for all the moments between Stevie and Lindsey, the hugging and the kissing her hands, the boxing etc., to me it's all an act. Lindsey was pretty spontaneous, but Stevie was definitely acting. Everyone around me made comments like:"He's okay, but she doesn't really want to do it, look at her face. She's not into it". And they were right. She wasn't into it. It's not strange though, after 70+ shows, it must be pretty boring.
So we went to the backstage area only to find out that they had already left. Someone told me that they go straight into the limo's right after the show. "Fleetwood Mac have left the building" LOL. So I didn't get to meet any of them, no autographs but that's okay. I was just happy to see them again. THEY ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who are going to see them, you're in for the night of your life!!!!!!!!
As for Germany I can totally relate to Stevie, that country sucks big time. I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone but it's just not my country. I felt uneasy, there was an unpleasant tension in the air as if something bad could happen at any moment. I couldn't sleep and the food is crappy: sour and greasy.... yuck. "I'm never going back again" unless Fleetwood Mac will be there.
Still we had a great time thanks to The Mac. I'll never forget it.

Hey Debbie! No meeting with Lindsey this time? ;) Thanks for the review! Glad to hear that you had an amazing time!!! Sorry about the bad Germany experience...I've only been in the airport in Frankfurt which was interesting to say the very least :D

Great review Debbie !!

I was at the Arena around 16:30 and spent some time and had dinner in the CentrO opposite to the Arena. I went back and was standing in line at 18:00, around 18:30u the doors were openened and whitin a minute a was in (I was hardly petted down, so I could have easily sneaked in my camera and minidisc-recorder, which I didn't...too bad !)

Anyways, at 19:00 the innerdoord were opened and I entered the beautiful Arena. I suppose you were also on the left-side of the stage. I was in block 111, just in the corner. Somewhat 6 rows above the floor and had a perfect, clear, unblocked view on stage, I noticed the camera-crane, but it didn't harm my sight.

My chair was perfect, far better then those crappy seats in the Ahoy' in Rotterdam.

Anyways, I tried to enter the floor, but this nice young lady wasn't to be persuaded that I had to be there (since I noticed a lot of space left for plenty of more people)... :)

After the show I was back in my hotel (near the Haubtbahnhoff) in just 20 minutes...great public transport overthere in Oberhausen, overhere they can learn from it !

ROTFLMAO. Well, that is probably the reason they played 4 times in Germany and not once in the Netherlands.

Thanks Debbie, that one was interesting. BTW, are you a foodball-fan?

I'm a soccer fan but only when Holland plays (I'm a patriot, can't help it).
Debbie
P.S. They didn't play in The Netherlands because they weren't asked

No meeting with Lindsey this time and I doubt it'll ever happen again. Maybe in London but I don't think so.

That means that MOJO didn't expected to make any money out of a FM-show, probably due to the fact that SYW wasn't really promoted and did nothing in the album-charts....

That makes it even more sucking then it already did :-)

We were in block 113 and the people next to me were sooooooo boring. They were sitting there as if they were watching television!!!! And when I started to "sing" along they looked at me as if I was crazy (I am, but they don't know that). I thought they were like zombies. When Stand Back rocked the house, they moved and I was going:"They're alive".
I agree that the seats were better than in Rotterdam although I haven't been there in years.
Next stop for me is London on the 30th but I'm still dazzled by Thursday. It was a great show and I hope Stevie will get decent sleep. She looked so tired.

Exactly, I bet if they were asked to play here, they would've sold out Ahoy in a minute.

Umm, sorry what did you expect ? The Ticket says: Opening Time 18:00 and Show beginning: 20:00
If you are to late, sorry, but that is your fault.

Someone yelled / asked for: SARA

Yeah, that was nice ... Lindsey signen a Photo I took in Frankfurt from him and Stevie shook my Hand ... great memories

eems you have been in a different Concert than I was, Of course its routine after 70 Shows, but Stevie needs that and want to do that.

no ???

but it's just not my country. I felt uneasy, there was an unpleasant tension in the air as if something bad could happen at any moment.

What exactly ? Earthquakes ? Thunder ? Frogs ? Hailstorms ? Something like that ?

I couldn't sleep and the food is crappy: sour and greasy.... yuck. "I'm never going back again" unless Fleetwood Mac will be there.

Yeah, that can happen when you travel far into another country/culture

But great to hear that you had fun;)

Yes we are terrible people living in a terrible land. Any stranger we can identify we capture to hold him/her as a hostage for years. On every full moon black hairs are growing on my back and my teeth get longer and longer. We eat little children too, that's probably why you don't like the food over here.
Anyway I`m glad you liked the show as I did- I am sure you are watching the relegation match Netherlands versus Scotland right now and hopefully have a good time.

Thank you Debbie, now I need a new keyboard, since I spilled my diet-coke on this one when I read your answer.

Honey, you don't get cynism very good.

I am happy that you enjoyed the concert, but your review is very unfriendly to say the least. Patriot? I thought so.

Good that you Germans are patriots too.
I don't think my review was unfriendly at all, I just told you my experience that's all there is to it. We're all entitled to our own opinion.
