School of Rock
I saw the sneak preview on Saturday. What I can say, School of Rock rocked! :D You should all see it (opens Friday, 10/3). Loved the shout outs to all the guitar legends. And it was great that Stevie was included in the movie (maybe she'll get a few new fans?). When her reference came up, some members of the audience started to clap. It was a funny reference that got at least 5 minutes of screen time in two separate scenes.
The soundtrack is a lot of fun, too. For you completists, it features the Timespace remix of Edge of Seventeen. I compared the two versions and they are essentially the same (no remastering), though the version on the soundtrack is slightly louder. Daniel sln-news.info |
I am actually going to see the movie today with my 7 year old...(Yes, the days of Disney seem to be over at least for now)...I believe there will be a scene in which Jack Black's character is talking with Joan Cusak's character (I believe she's the principal or something to that effect) and she admits to being a Stevie Nicks fan and there is some kind of exchange between the two.
From the review I read it's supposed to be one of the funniest scenes or something....I'll let you all know what it was about, unless someone sees it first!! |
That hack Roger Ebert wrote in his review that it's a Grace Slick song, for cripes sake. What an idiot.

Yes....there was a great Stevie mention in the movie!!!
Joan Cusak's character as the principal is very "by the book" and a bit "tense"...and while in the faculty lounge...Jack Black's character (Dewey/Ned) asked if she was always that uptight...and a fellow teacher said the only time she 'let loose' (i'm paraphrasing but y'all get the gist) was during some banquet where she had some wine and suddenly took a tablecloth and wrapped it around her, danced on a table and pretended she was Stevie Nicks. Then, Jack's character, took her to a bar...to butter her up for a fieldtrip (which was against the rules for him)....so in order to do that...he ordered her a beer...went to the jukebox and put on Edge of Seventeen. He starts dancing and twirling a bit back to the table (a la Stevie) and Joan's character says "I love this song...I love Stevie Nicks"...Jack's character says, "She's so much better live than on the records"....and then Joan's character says...(i think) "I saw her live once...she looked so....so...White"...all the while she's singing (badly) along to Edge of Seventeen. Cute Scene....Cute movie...my son loved it!!! |
I saw the movie as well..the Stevie part was a little longer than it was in the trailor...VERY nice mention...cant be anything but good promotion for Stevie...considering School of Rock is #1 in the Box Office this week with over $21 mill just in a couple of days
