I think someone on the board mentioned this already but FM will be featured on VH1's greatest album covers show. Rumours comes in at #16. '

Awesome!

Damn skippy! I think Say You Will is one of the best ever Mac covers too.

What's so cool about the Rumours cover?

It's ALL about Mystery To Me.

AMEN!! Two words: leather pants. ;)

Seriously, I really do like the SYW cover not ONLY because of that, but it's kinda artsy-fartsy. LOL I love the Rumours cover, Mirage, Tango, Kiln House (GREATNESS!! Go Christine!!), TPO and Bare Trees (fits the moodiness of the music) the most.

The Rumours cover has iconic value. No matter what FM does, the band will always be known for Rumours -- the background story, the chart-topping album, and the cover.

My favorite FM album covers are Kiln House, Rumours, MTM, HAHTF, and the White Album. TITN gets an honorable mention. Bare Trees is cool as well. The SYW cover is nice, but it is too new to rate in my top 5.

really.....if they had a category for best quality of vinyl used on an lp for that year they'd probably pick Rumours too.

what a sh*tl*st

What a crap. Rating Rumours as the sixteenth best albumcover ever is almost as ridiculous as not rating buckingham in the top sixteen of guitarists of all time...

Another stinklist. Lists are fun if you can read twenty different personal top tens on one topic. Otherwise: Flush'em.

gerald

PS, did i ever mention that Tusk is the best album ever recorded by anyone with the best artwork ever covering vinyl?

Well at least it's nice to see the Mac getting recognition in a "list".

Personally I think the Tango cover is the best in terms of suiting the atmosphere of the album.:)

That cover made Stevie's career. If not for that cover it's quite possible that Stevie may not have eclipsed Lindsey and Chris in popularity so quickly. The lead guitar player is often the most popular front person in bands unless that person doesn't ever sing lead. The Rumours cover put Stevie's image out there as the focal point of the band. It put a memorable image on her as "the" representative of the band. It left a lasting impression on people. When I first saw it, I got the impression Mick was saying to the world with that pose, "Heeeeere's Stevie!" If I recall correctly, there was a lot of band politics behind the creation of that cover wasn't there?

FM had been around for years by then. Most people didn't know who they were or what they looked like except Mick. I remember a lot of people not even realizing there was a woman in the band before Stevie. Chris's voice was often mistaken for a guy's voice. The first album with Stevie and Lindsey sold a lot but was not that memorable except for Rhiannon being on the radio a lot just before Rumours came out. The Rumours cover showed everyone a picture of the whole Rhiannon thing. People got to see what the Rhiannon lady looked like..."so that's Stevie Nicks! Way cool!" To this day, she's still the lady in the flowing black dress.

I think the Rumours cover deserves a top 20 rank. It's a top 20 album of all time. The cover had a lot to do with it, as well as the great music inside!

I really really am beginning to hate VH-1's lists....they're getting really old IMO..

BUT I am glad to see that FM made it on the list..thought Sgt. Pepper's should hav ebeen on there too...bastards...SNOOP DOG SHOULD NOT BE ON THERE!!!!

chiliD 09-24-2003 02:34 PM

There were some good choices on there, but you know a list is screwy when they find room to include Christina Aguilera, DMX, and Snoop Dogg covers, that aren't anything special... especially when they're included at the expense of other, far worthier covers (such as those chiliD mentioned).
(By the way, if Christina's album cover is so special... the artist's lone figure in stark black & white... then why not include Stevie's 'Rock A Little?')

Ah well, I'll say this... usually Fleetwood Mac gets forgotten on these "greatest" lists, so it was nice they were at least included.

I agree...
