Oh Diane UK Video

I downloaded a video of the Mac doing this song from WinMx. The quality is pretty crappy, but I was wondering if anyone could provide info on this performance.

It appears to be a TV appearance that was broadcast on UK TV, but that is all I know.

I think it's just a lip sync thing. They're not really playing or singing. I heard it was made for the UK because "Oh Diane" was a minor hit there.

I remember it well... It was incredibly bad! Lindsey lip synching while barely opening his mouth....

Re: Oh Diane UK Video

It was from an awful (but at the same time inexplicably popular) Saturday evening show on BBC1 called "The Late, Late Breakfast Show". I still shudder when I remember their performance. I was looking forward to it, but to say I was dismayed when they played "Oh Diane"- possibly the worse song they've ever recorded- was an understatement. The satellite link was terrible, the band didn't look interested and of course the song was just embarassing.

It didn't end there though. The presenter (Noel Edmonds, for it was he, sadly) then tried to use the same satellite link to do an interview. Trying Lindsey and Christine with no response, the presenter made one final attempt just as Lindsey's now legendary comment "I can't hear sh*t" was broadcast to the nation. Not any of their finest hours.

And since that dreadful show could make any song a hit, to this day I still don't know why they chose "Oh Diane" when re-releasing "Hold Me" or "Gypsy" would have been so much better.

Stevie looked really cool on that performance.....dancing around with her suede platform boots..i seem to remember hearing Lindsey say **** and thinking 'God, does he know what he's saying!

I agree, pretty terrible song though!

WHY? When there was 'Gypsy' to choose from!

Great to think back on that though. I'm hoping the Mac will get on some shows while over here. I have e mailed Jonathan Ross in the hope he may get them on

Later with Jools Holland is also a possibility, as it is starting again soon

Parkinson should have them on his show!!! I'm betting they will do some interviews for Radio 2.... maybe even a live set....

I know that Nancy (sodascouts) is looking for a good copy of this, too (as am I). :)

It was bad, but Stevie looked so cute.

It wasn't as bad as their performance of Silver Springs on foreign television. They lip-synched it and Stevie...didn't do too good of a job...and Lindsey was just strumming anything...and Chris was abnging on her keyboards...

Anyone remember what I'm talking about?

This could have been the live TV show "Wetten dass" in Germany. The show was aired at the end of 1997 (november or so) The show (lasting circa 3 hours) is the no 1 saturday evening show in Germany (and Switzerland and Austria broadcasted too) since the early 80`s and a lot of stars appear as talk guests or perform a song. The main agenda of the show is betting=wetten in german) So someone bets he can do something crazy like making 18 people fit into a FIAT 500 from 1976 or whatever. But most of the time the host interviews stars and so on. So FM performed "Silver springs" but there was no interview nor any other kind of participation on that show except of this appearance. (Sometimes the stars perform 2 songs or take part at the rest of the show) The lip synch was obvious and not very good, but I was thrilled to see them live here nevertheless.
Lip synch- that is my connection to this thread. Lindsey is really bad at lip synching and everybody who ever saw the video to Little lies knows what I am talking about  So I guess I know what the "Oh Diane" video must be like. BUUUTTTT- I like the song itself, it's not my favourite and I also heard it too often in the 80`s (it was a radio hit in Germany too). But I really like it though. :wavey:
