Warren Zevon

Warren Zevon passed away yesterday at age 56. He was taking a nap and passed away in his sleep.

I have yet to see the VH1 special...i'm sure it'll be rebroadcast. i have several of his cds. I hope FM makes a dedication to him in one of their upcoming concerts. Actually, i think it would be great if they did one of his songs in his honor. I highly doubt that'll happen though.

:(

Someone posted this on the Warren Zevon newsgroup.

"The wind flapped loose, the wind was still,
Shaken out dead from tree and hill
I had walked on at the wind's will
I sat now, for the wind was still."

--Dante Gabriel Rosetti

RIP Warren.

Not unexpected, but yet when I read that this morning, it still took my breath. Here's a link to a CNN article:

Peace to you and no pain in the after life, Warren.

It definetely wasn't unexpected, but still shocking. At least he was at peace.

Warren Zevon is one of the best singer/songwriters there has been over the last 25+ years. I continue to find inspiration in his music.

RIP Warren

My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and of course the fans. While not unexpected, it is heartbreaking. He touched a lot of people, including some most dear to us-- Lindsey, Stevie, and Mick.

Warren, you will be missed. Thank you for the music. :distress:

What a sad day. I'm so glad he was able to finish his album and see the birth of his grandchild before passing away. He left an indelible mark on the music industy and will not be forgotten. Warren, we'll keep you in our hearts for longer than just awhile.

A brilliant man, who wasn't lost on the irony of how things unfolded for him.

Warren Zevon was one of those "unique" songwriters who could touch a tangent of the soul... and it was electricity.....

"When you're all alone
And you need someone
Telephone and I'll come running
Reconsider me, reconsider me.......

If the past still makes you down
Darling, that was then and this is now
Reconsider me, reconsider me.....

And I'll never make you sad again...
'Cause I swear.... that I've changed since then...
And I'll never make you sorry if you try.....
Let's let bygones... be forgotten
Reconsider me,
Reconsider me......

You can go and be what you want to be!
It will be alright if we disagree!
I'm the one who cares, and I hope you'll see-
That I'm the one who loves you
Reconsider me!!

Let's let bygones..... be forgotten......
Reconsider me.... reconsider me.....

No, I'll never make you sad again, cause I swear-
That I've changed since then...
No, I'll never make you sad, if you try......

I loved Warren Zevon because he was an archetype of the "songwriter/singer"- but most of all the player.

I think this is what Stevie was talking about when she said-

"But I like some kind of TIME/LIFE edition,
Tradition, competition...
Being the only thing that I really have to remember
The great singers and the great players
"

Good-bye, Warren.... we will miss you.

My boyfriend and I only recently really started listening to his music...and we love it....his passing is very sad...

Mad4stevie 09-08-2003 04:30 PM

This is so sad - the VH1 special was so tragic.

Will members of the Mac get time off to go to a service for Warren?
