New Back-up Singer ANNOUNCED!

From someone's local paper:

"Local singer (Minneapolis) Jana Anderson, of the Sugar Divaz, leaves for a seven-week stint with Fleetwood Mac as a backup vocalist."

Since beautiful Jana Anderson's on board, now MY BROTHERS want to attend a Fleetwood Mac concert!!!

Sarah 08-31-2003 02:41 PM

I never notice the backup singers anyway.

4Buck 08-31-2003 02:49 PM

Bet Buckingham's EXTREMELY happy with this choice!

"Course, he may have chosen Jana himself, or at least helped Nicks with the selection!!!;)

FiercestCalmSea 08-31-2003 03:53 PM

I kinda figured it wouldn't be Lori..considering they are going overseas and stuff and she has a kid to consider..this Jana chic seems cool..of course they were gonna pick a cutie..you can't have unattractive back-up singers,dammit..

Blame Waddy for restraining them. (And yeah, I know you don't mean the solo tours, Sarah, but they're not too different with the Mac.)

From the Q & A, here's Waddy:
I make sure that everything sounds, feels and looks the way it ought to. And that's why I used to bitch at Sharon and Lori (when Lori was on the road with us) and they would be over there doing these "moves" . . . I'd go over there and say, "Girls, cut that **** out!"
And Lori (Laughing) . . . she'll totally respond and remember this: I went, "Keep that ****in' arm of yours down or I'll cut it off!" She's pointing up in the air and dancing. I went, "This is not a disco." I've got this kind of Bob Fosse thing up my ass where I think I'm in charge of all of it . . . so therefore I am in charge of all of it. And I can't look over at my singers and see them like flailing around, you know? "Get a grip. Keep that arm down!" (Laughing)
Yeah, you know doin' them Chi-lites moves and stuff. I have to make sure . . . well, first of all, I have to work on the material, the "set list" with Stevie . . . get it the way she wants. I've got to make sure the band knows every intro, every ending, every chord, the singers know their parts . . .

I never understood what the appeal was with Lori. I thought she sang way too loudly, and I didnt think her voice was all that wonderful either.
I agree that Marilyn Martin was a good back up vocalist for Stevie.
I had to laugh when I read Waddy's comments because when I saw Stevie on the Wild Heart Tour, Lori was all over the place. I mean, it's great that she was enthusiastic, but she was way too busy up there. I think she was definitely coked up at the time-LOL!!

Well, if it can't be Sandy Stewart, then it should be CHRISTINE MCVIE!!!!!!!! Then they have a singer and keyboard player who knows most of the stuff already. And they're in England anyway.

I thought Sara Fleetwood would be the obvious choice... even more romantic tension on the stage!
