Sable On Blond
I just purchased "The Wild Heart" of which had two songs that I hadn't heard in a year or so, and two songs that were completely new to me. One of those new songs was "Sable On Blond," and I cannot believe this song!!! I think it might even replace "Brown Eyes" as my favorite all-time song. I'm currently listening to it and I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE HOW AWESOME THIS SONG IS! God, I cannot handle this... :D :D :D
Anyway, I'm just completely blown away by this song. It is like a combination of the "Taxi" opening theme tune and "Sara." It's perfect beyond comprehension. :nod: |
One of my all-time favorite Stevie songs! It's a masterpiece and I think it would have been awesome if they segued Sara into Sable On Blonde onstage, ala Outside the Rain and Dreams. :D

Would somebody post the link for Jason to the interview from TWH days in which she calls this song her "serious statement" and she talks about learning not to draw on the sword? I can't remember which interview that was, but I'm sure somebody does.
TWH is my favorite album, and SOB is a beautiful, sensual song with a funky harmony. - JakeWayOutsideAnyFrostCoveredWindow |
"Sable on Blond is my serious statement on The Wild Heart. It fits into a particular group of my songs; Rhiannon, Beautiful Child and Sara. It reflects the mood I was in when I moved into my new house last year. It was a time when I was learning how to live with myself. Sable on Blond meant to learn how to be a stranger, to learn to be with yourself, to learn to be one color. In the legend of Excalibur, the sword is there for protection, but you don't call upon it unless it's absolutely necessary. During that period in my life, I was learning how not to call on the sword."
It's from Rock magazine in 1983. I have the magazine and it's a really good article. :) |
Thanks, it's really great to know what Stevie was capturing in the song itself. I'm still listening to it. I think I have had it on rotation for about seven hours now...:cool:

~~~Sable On Blond is most definitely one of my all time favorites. I would decorate my classroom with lyrics such as ...Just how deep do you hold that dream....I always wanted to hear it in concert and it's interesting that Stevie has performed the other three songs that she grouped it with.~~~
Love Sable on Blonde!!
This is my favorite song on The Wild Heart...some of Stevie's best lyrics..."was it a thorn in your side, something that you hide, something that you don't touch, because it hurts too much"....ah yes, Stevie is great...:nod:
"Sable on Blonde" is my favorite from The Wild Heart, too! In fact, I think I need to dig that one out...right now! "What was it that fell...Well this time I think it was you babe..." Oooh! Chills! |
