Stevie's SYW tour performances...

Hello everyone..Im a new boy!!...Living in London waiting patiently for November ..It will be the first time Ive seen them since Wembly BTM tour, and OSOTM and Tango tours before that..13 years ago !!!!...Anyways I was wondering on such a huge tour does Stevies performace/energy levels vary much from show to show??..after around 70 shows when they reach London Im so hoping they won't have run out of steam ?:) ..any views ?

Hello and welcome. I have seen this concert a three times and have two more performances pending. I think LB "steals the show" on this tour. He absolutely manic in his performances. Stevie is good if not great, but she is seemingly less energetic than in the past probably due in part to her hip, which is said by many to be hurting her. But, she does "take to the sky" in several songs and her vocie is dead on in this show. I thought she was really great - just a little calmer these days. She and LB also still have a lot of chemistry. I hope that helps.

P.S. I love London and wish I got there more often!!!!!!! Sadly, I am obligated to another trip for the London concerts or I would so be there!!!!!!

I think it was Stevie who recently implied that the set list would be changed somewhat for the second leg of the tour. I hope she meant it, and I hope she brings back RTTG!

Stevie's performances are great, but I do think they vary show to show. On some shows, she'll just let loose, on others she'll stay in her comfort zone and just sing them without any particular feeling, but it'll still be great. She isn't as energetic, but she is going through menopause, so I won't stone her. LOL  One thing that I am disappointed in is her lack of interaction with the crowd, though. :(

And they are changing the setlist around?! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

hi,

I was also worrying about Stevie flagging on arrival in the Uk! The performance i am going to is in Manchester on the 3/12. Even later than those in London...so dont wear her out london! lol

I do believe though that manchester and London will be MASSIVE concerts, as 2 gr8 english cities host the band who originally graced our shores lol

I hope they put Destiny rules back in..does ne1 kno why they dropped it so early on in june????

I think I read somewhere that a DJ for Z93 said Stevie will be on around the time of the 9 /7 concert and Stevie told the DJ that they will have a different set. DISCLAIMER: Old age is setting in - so please do not take my word as law, etc.

Stevie

I think it's more about her voice and her songs, not so much her gymnastic capabilities. She won't be moving around on stage like she used to. If you love to hear Stevie sing and just watch her "stand there", you won't be disappointed. Most who have reviewed the concerts so far have cited "Beautiful Child" as a highlight or THE highlight of the show, myself being one of them. She didn't have to twirl or cut loose to captivate on that number.

Don't worry, Stevie is taking much better care of herself these days. She's a road warrior, she's tough, and the long distance winner!

You'll have a great time, don't worry.

LOL - when I saw Mick at the hotel lobby in Dallas prior to the concert he was taking pills. I looked at him and he was like "they are vitamins" the implication being they were not narcotics!!!!!! In fact, we king of joked about it for a second!!!!! So, they def. have vitamins!!!

I've seen them twice now and based on the early reviews from people on the boards and the media, I didn't know what to expect in terms of Stevies input/energy up on stage.

I have to say, that although Lindsey is the stand out in terms of showmanship, Stevie's not exactly a statue. Her actions are just more subtle now-adays. This was more clear with the second show I saw being within the first 10 rows. She has her moments where she gets down.... And like someone said earlier, her voice this tour is very strong and dead on!

I personally think she's trying not wearing herself out or down, trying to stay strong and healthy knowing they were in for the long haul on this tour.

RavenOfRhiannon 08-31-2003 09:54 AM

I don't think Lindsey steal the show as much as Stevie hands it to him. Stevie is great on stage, during 'Standback' she really cuts loose. Everyone is right, her voice is dead on, and I would rather have her be in a wheelchair and have that voice than do cartwheels and have the voice she had a few years ago...

I think Stevie understands that Lindsey's songs are so very special to him. He's been nurturing them for years and it is such a big deal for him to have rejoined the Mac and just hand over a solo album to them with no rancor. So she is stepping a bit to the side, onstage and also by letting Lindsey do the lion's share of the media...

~~~I've been to five of the concerts so far with at least four more to come. My thought is that LB produced the album and is "producing" the live performances. Stevie seems very happy with this and as has been stated, she's in fine voice and seems to be thrilled with Lindsey's performances as well as her own. She is older and wiser. Therefore she isn't wearing herself out at the outset of the shows or the tour. That said I think her performances have been dead on brilliant. I too wish she was interacting more with the fans as she does on her solo tors.~~~
