SYW on Billboard, 8/23

The album's at #110 (from #100) this week. Can anything save it?!?

Another single (with a video for a change)

I don't think their "people" realize the damage being done by not doing videos!!! And I mean a concept video, not a live video! It doesn't have to be as elaborate as shipping them all out to the desert, but I'm sure one of the MANY creative and talented video directors out there could come up with SOMETHING! They need another single, a catchier one, and they need a video. It may not get "TRL" space but frankly, who cares! I think it would help tremendously, and it might help gain a lot more fans too, especially the casual FM fans who had no idea that they even had a new album out!

They need a big hit VH1 video, really spread to the populous

Or

a big rock hit on all the rock music channels

But yeah a video is a must

It doesn't need any saving at all. The album has done REMARKABLY well for such a band and it's quite a feat for it to be still be doing so well on the charts four months after its release. The band should feel lucky. :)

but maybe the more money more they make from the album sales, the lesser chance of Mick fleecing us left, right and centre for all the cash he can ;)

But, alas, there are three things in life that are certain:

1. Death

2. Taxes

3. Mick Fleetwood trying to make lolly however he can, no matter what.

Death could be curable many years down the line, Taxes you never know there could be a free society in years to come, but #3 will always be there :(

dissention 08-22-2003 11:21 AM

And just think if death was curable before Mick dies. He'll be around forever, ripping off even more people, collecting even more money, and probably hatching up a scheme with JT to get a portion of the taxes.

Ah.

just an fyi...

for w/e 8-17, they're down to 116, with sales of 9,220, down 11.4% from last week. RTD is 711,356.

Dissention's right. This is good-Warners never expected it to do this well.

Just a comparison- it took 15 weeks for Fleetwood Mac to drop out of the top 100. It took Bruce Springsteen's The Rising 15 weeks to drop out of the top 100. Fleetwood Mac doing relatively as well as Bruce? Not shabby at all.

Curse of Blondie hasn't been released just yet has it? It will be interesting to see how that plays out seeing as they have a concept video for Good Boys.

Sorcerer386 08-22-2003 09:55 PM

Unfortunately, however, Bruce's album remained in the top ten for a few more weeks, and therefore went double platinum. SYW is still gold. I hope it can remain in the Top 200 long enough to go platinum.

No, it comes out the last week of September. The thing with Blondie is that they don't do well in the states, but they do phenomenal in Europe. They're guaranteed to go multi-platinum in foreign sales, but barely gold here. Which is a f*ckin' shame considering they're the still the best!! :D

Yeah, but Bruce's album came out at just the time in history for people to flock to the album stores to buy it. Fleetwood Mac didn't make an album about 9/11 and then release it not too long after. :)

And, also, Bruce's album going double-platinum just proves even further that the public has no taste. I mean, that album was god-awful. The Rising has to be one of the worst songs ever recorded, IMO. The whole album was half-baked and very lame.

ShamHy89 08-23-2003 08:36 AM

I have to agree with you on The Rising. I know some Bruce Springsteen fans and wouldn't want to anger them but I think SYW was a much better effort than The Rising and yet Bruce sold many more albums. For this, I also agree with 9/11 thing. It was a time when people needed something like that and the public ate it up.

Shamus:)
