UK gigs - Special Guests??
 

There has been a lot of speculation about Christine putting in an appearance at the UK gigs which would certainly be awesome. But I wonder who else MIGHT show up at the London gigs? I was surfing over at Peter Greens website and was rather excited to see he is playing my hometown of Northampton on the 27th November. However I was even more interested to see that he then has no more gigs until 4th Dec. Coincidence? Or is he planning to be somewhere on the weekend that Fleetwood Mac hit our capital??? ;)

I see it very possible for her to come out and end the show with "Songbird." Maybe she'll join in for the encours?

That would be awesome. But thinking that Peter might be around is much more exciting to me!

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

The one thing I've noticed about Fleetwood Mac's incarnations that include Lindsey Buckingham, "sit-in" guests don't seem to be welcome.

During the Time lineup's era, they had quite a few people sit-in during encores (Jeremy Spencer played with them in Tokyo, Neil Geraldo, Pat Benatar's husband/lead guitarist, sat in during a Chicago performance; plus one of the guitarists from REO Speedwagon, too. And, they probably did more often than that one time since they were all on the same bill for awhile.)

The only other time I ever saw anyone "sit-in" with FMac, was when Lindsey came out to play "Landslide", "GYOW", & "Tear It Up" the final two shows of the Behind The Mask tour.

It would please me to no end to hear that Peter Green or Christine made "guest appearances" at any of the UK shows, though. But, by FMac's track record, it would seem to be unlikely; considering Bob Welch was invited to the Nashville show, but wasn't invited to play.

Those are really good points, but I can't stop thinking about how "high profile" Chris is to the average FM fan.

I mean, we know of Peter & Bob.. and I'm sure many others do too, but it's only logical that more know about Chris.. therefore, a little bit bigger of a reaction, no?

You sure have that pegged. Lindsey seems a bit too...possessive than to let anyone come in as a guest; it might just steal his thunder. ;)

All good points - but this IS England we're talking about. Not exactly Lindsey's turf. I hope his ego will allow Chris and/or Peter their moment in the spotlight, if they so desire.

I know the Lindsey policy on 'sit-ins', but I don't even think I need to argue a case for Chris sitting in or even perfoming through a whole special concert - her legacy speaks for itself, and she and Lindsey have been great friends and great co-workers for countless years, unlike any other possible sit-in potentials like Sheryl Crow or Bob Welch.

I know as much about what Lindsey really thinks as you do, but I maintain the view that he would be all too ready to accomodate Chris in some way for a special encore at some point. For me the only thing that makes it all unlikely is Chris herself ~ can you see her getting up on stage to a giant crowd these days? I m ean, of course I wantt o see it, but I don't see it in reality. I don't think it's where she's at. But I'm probably totally wrong.

Peter Green is probably the one other person in FM's history that I'd believe Lindsey has enough respect for to invite up on stage for a special number, but I don't see that happeneing at all. Oh, sorry {ip ~ um, I mean.. You never know! :laugh:

Actually, Chris has said that her and Lindsey were never friends at all. :laugh:

There's an interview from when she left in the early nineties where she says that Lindsey and her had a musical bond, but outside of that, they weren't friends, that they were very different people and weren't compatible to be friends. I think it's very evidenced, though, by the comments and attitudes towards each other. I can't imagine her being too happy when Lindsey made comments to magazines about her solo shows being akin to lounge acts. Then the whole thing with her burning her bridges; I don't care what anyone says, something happened during the Dance tour, dammit! :laugh: Chris is a very conservative musician and I'm sure that she reamed out Lindsey over Tusk and the whole throwing a drink into his face didn't help matters probably. Then she flat out says that they weren't friends at all.

Their relationship is almost as volatile as his and Stevie's! :laugh: That's an exaggeration, but, hey, you never know...:laugh:
