Bob Welch's comment re: Fan Club Fiasco
Bob Welch's new Q&A has a comment regarding the fan club fiasco. I concur with his comments and have felt it was the case from the beginning. Ya gotta go read it!! Bob ROCKS!!!
~Laura BTW...My Official Standpoint on the Fiasco - I haven't said much about it so far... so this seems as good a time as any... First: I would never tell anyone how to run their business. Most people are out to make a buck these days. Fact of Life - Buyer Beware. Second: From the moment I signed on as a Fan Club member, I NEVER expected too much more than what we've gotten, which is exactly the very minimum of what was advertised. It was a feeling I had after reading the advertisment. Last: To me, the ticket thing IS a fiasco. For some reason, it seems the fan club lacks proper pull to get more and better seats AND the "minion" thing is very intriguing. ~Laura |
LMAO! Soooooooooooooooo true, dammit! I found that quite amusing, thakns for letting us know! I hope that Bob says something to Mick about it (if he hasn't already from the way he replied!)!!
 |
Thanks a lot for pointing that out. It was very interesting reading his comments. I must say that if he knows about it then SURELY the rest of the band know about it by now...??

Here ya go, Chris. And thanks, babe, for having the cahones to post the question. I toyed with the idea myself. Glad Bob was open enough to give us his thoughts...
Hi Bob, I have just another question for you. Have you heard the mess about the Fleetwood Mac fan club, and the whole scandal and how many feel money was taken and misused and got nothing in return? I was wondering if you had any idea this big fan club uproar existed, because I know it wouldn't be going on if you were still in the band! (Chris McLeod, Locust Grove, CA, USA) Yes , I've heard all about it...I think it's terrible. I was just at the point of sending some of my "Bop...." CD's to sell on Mick's site as per Micks management office, when luckily , Marty flagged me about the whole mess...and I never mailed the CD's. Mick and I are back on good terms now....but I must say that he has never, in my opinion, hired people that represent him properly...There are a lot of people who worked for Mick in the past, that I think never should have...and the problem is, once these people are in place, Mick tends to turn a blind eye to the problem and move on to his next venture. It took me a year and a half of bitching, for example, to convince Mick that Danny Kirwan, although a wonderful talent, was messing with our heads too much....and had to go. |
Thanks for pointing it out. He has Mick's number, for sure.
The whole Q & A was good. Of course, I loved the thing with Stevie defending him to the hostile crowd. Now I want to hear the Pointer Sisters' version of Hypnotized. It's news to me! - Jake |
Bob rocks! He's always been very frank with his opinions about Mick and the way he runs the band. I love his mention of JT's minions. It shows he's fully abreast of the situation and if he is, I'll never believe the band does not know about the controversy.
Thumbs up, Bob, for not selling cds at a site run by JT! I'm sure Bob's not making near the kind of money the band's raking in now, so he has more incentive for looking the other way and using any outlet he can to sell his music. He just has more integrity than the people still in the band. I will buy as many copies of Bob's stuff as I can and I will also tell friends to do the same. As for the band's handling of the fan club fiasco, they still think they're making a sound business decision to look the other way while a group of loyal fans gets burned. Well, I see it as an error in business judgment as well as ethically wrong. SYW still has not sold a million copies. Why? I believe part of the reason is that a lot of fans might go to the shows and some might by the cd, but longtime fans like me are not encouraging friends and relatives to buy it. I'm also not getting multiple copies for gifts, etc. I've got the dvd audio and I'm glad I have it but I'm not buying anything else. |
If I read the first post in this thread correctly, it's really sad that Bob Welch had to pay to join a fan club of a band that he was a member of...

To Wednesdays Child...
oh..no, no, no... You got it wrong... The comment you are referring to was made by ME. That is why I said in my original post "go read it" - so you will GO to Bob's Q&A to read his comment. However, Chris, the one who submitted the question, couldn't find the answer ... so I posted it in reply, down in the thread. Hope that helps! ~Laura :wavey: |
Laura--
Aha! Thanks for pointing that out for me...I swear, my brain is not functioning properly, lol! :) |
