Buckingham/Nicks: Is it coming or not?

OK, For a while, there were rumors that BN was coming with the remasters....is there any more info to confirm this? Also, is there a set date for the remasters?

I remember someone had an article where they said BN, Rumours and Tusk would all come out this summer. I dunno what happened.

This is what www.musictap.net says:

Fleetwood Mac's Fleetwood Mac (Buckingham/Nicks) gets the DVD-Audio treatment on November 11. That should keep a lot of you awake for awhile.

Now I don't know why it's in parenthesis...

I think the parenthasis are just to differenciate between the 1975 FM (as in, "it includes Buckingham & Nicks on it") album and 1968's "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac".

Whenever the remasters are mentioned in blurbs, the US articles state just FM (1975), "Rumours" and "Tusk" as all being released (the last date I've heard on those so far is October 28) but UK articles also list "Buckingham Nicks" with those releases (and UK releases come out on Mondays, unlike the US which have Tuesday releae dates and Oct. 28 is a Tuesday).

I'm still kicking around the possibility (and I hope I'm wrong) that the UK guys might have gotten confused with such "Buckingham Nicks" parenthasis leading them to believe (when they write their stories) that (they think) the 1973 Polydor "Buckingham Nicks" album is the one coming out on CD when all these parenthasis people mean is they are just distinguishing the 1975 "Fleetwood Mac" album from the 1968 FM album not even meaning that BN is being reissued), which, if true, would mean that BN is not coming out on CD, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the UK guys are right and that Rhino are putting out BN on CD (in addition to the above mentioned three titles)...finally! :)

I know none of this gets us any closer to an answer but I was just hoping that by stating the latest I've heard about this here, it might have clarified a few things in regards to these in the meantime until we (hopefully) get more info on these...soon! :)

I guess that makes sense...that's kind of what I was thinking too. So does this mean that all the reissues are going to be in DVD-Audio format? Now I have to know! :)

BlueGrass 08-13-2003 04:52 PM

Wait, now I am getting confused. I thought thet were going to release BN, Rumours and Tusk remastered on regular CD, not DVD-Audio.

I know Ken Cailet is currently remixing Tusk for DVD Audio - 5.1 right now. Is he doing BN too, cause I thought he was still looking for the masters or whatever.

wetcamelfood 08-13-2003 05:21 PM

Oops, sorry if my long winded speech was confusing. :)

Yeah, Ken's DVD-A's of FM (1975), "Tusk" & TISL are completely separate from the Rhino stuff, those three are coming on DVD-A at some point (the 1975 album due on Nov. 11th for DVD-A as I think someone said above).

At the least, Rhino is doing FM (1975), "Rumours" & "Tusk" on CD (with the last two being expanded to 2 discs though the 1975 album is apparently going to have bonus tracks as well).

It's just this Buckingham Nicks CD reissue thing that I think is either a mixup by the UK reports (in which case, BN wouldn't be released on CD) or if they are right then Rhino would be putting that on CD too.

I've heard nothing about BN being released on DVD-A.

Hope that's clearer. I meant to go back and amend my "guesses" as to what might be happening but this post is just the certainties for now (that I know of). :)

Wow, FM (1975, Tusk, AND TROUBLE IN SHANGRI-LA are going to be released on DVD-A??? That is so awesome, I can already imagine "Planets Of the Universe!" Coolness....:D

As with all things pertaining to these re-releases...

I'll believe it when I see it.

Just a thought on this. As I understand it Stevie and Lindsey own the rights to Buckingham Nicks, having bought them from Polydor some years back, so surely Rhino or any other record company could not release them without S and L's say so.

I'd like to think Buckingham Nicks would be released on CD, but I am pesimistic that it will happen any time soon.

To all the cynics and doubters regarding Buckingham Nicks being released on CD I say..... Amen! Nothing will happen until Stevie and Lindsey make it happen, and so far all they've said in interviews is that they have the masters, and they're interested in releasing it on CD at some point. I've seen this in interviews since the mid-90's. So we won't see anything until they think it's worth the time. I don't know if they don't realize the number of people who would like to see it happen, or maybe they're just not interested in unearthing old music (Lindsey's always been more interested in his current work). Maybe their management needs to get the hint from fans that it would be a worthwhile project. However, to quote Nancy, "I'll believe it when I see it."

BellaDonnaGypsy 08-14-2003 11:55 AM

I have seen Buckingham Nicks on a CD shop's new releases list in the back of a British music magazine... it was either Q or Mojo. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it. Of course, the original release date that was announced for all three was pushed back, so I do wonder whether they were jumping the gun a bit. I can't dig out the magazine, because it will have long been collected for recycling, but I definitely saw it at one point a few months ago. So, either it really will be released, or retailers are making exactly the same misassumption that we are.

I don't think it'll be released anytime soon; if it was, we'd all have heard about it until we were sick of hearing about it! If it was coming out, I think Stevie or Lindsey would have said something. They didn't and I don't think it's coming out. :)
