Any song on the wrong album?
I know Stevie has said she never writes thinking "OK, this is for me solo, this is for Mac, this is for someone else..." but I was wondering if any of you think any of her songs were put on the wrong album. I don't know if that makes ANY sense, so here's my example:
I love Straight Back, her vocals are so powerful. But it has a "Stevie solo" feel for me that I just can't shake. It just doesn't sound like Fleetwood Mac to me (I know, I know, it's not like any of their songs sound the same or anything!) It feels very Wild Heart to me. Anyone else? Paula |
I personally think Sorcerer should have been kept a Fleetwood Mac song, even though I love it on TISL and it fits well. Maybe it's because it's one of the ONLY songs where I heard the demo first...but I like it with Lindsey on it.

I have always felt that she should have did Think About It on a Mac album as the demo with her and Lindsey is a favorite of mine:)

I think RTTG should have been on a solo CD.
I also remember hearing an interview with Stevie where she said that when she writes songs she "channels" Fleetwood Mac. She said that she becomes Christine, Lindsey, Mick, or John and then she writes. I have also heard her say that any song she writes FM has access to, if they want it. Sean |
Silver Girl. It just doesn't fit SYW. I wish Sorcerer would have been saved for FM but I guess at that point Stevie might have thought there would never be another FM record.

I agree with you about Silver Girl. I sort of equate that song with "I Miss You" on TISL.

Oh, I love I Miss You. What didn't you guys like about it?
|
I'm a big fan of I Miss You too. Then again, I sorta like Silver Girl. It's not my favorite song in the world, but I don't actively hate it either.
|
For me ~ I think that Fall From Grace would have been a rocking FM song. Would love what Lindsey could do with the production.
I think Silver Girl would have fit perfect on TISL especially since it was written for Ms. Crow. I love the song and my best friend who for some reason likes Stevie's solo songs better loves this song as well. |

Well, let's see...
"Smile At You" & "Everybody Finds Out" sound to me like they should've been on Tango In The Night (IMO in place of "WTTR...S" & "WISYA")...and wouldn't THEY have improved that album immensely? "Planets Of The Universe" & "Sorcerer" would've spruced up Mirage (again, IMO, in place of "Straight Back" & "That's Alright"...both of which sound like they should've gone on Bella Donna) |

Stevie has many talents, but time-travelling ain't one of 'em! ;-) But I most definitely agree that "Smile At You" should have been used on either 'Mirage,' or 'Tango.' Preferably 'Tango,' as it would fit very well alongside the title track, and "Isn't It Midnight." For me though, "When I See You Again" is a MUST for 'Tango,' and should never be dropped, as it provides an emotional depth that is otherwise somewhat lacking on the album. "Welcome To The Room... Sara," could have been saved for 'The Other Side Of The Mirror.' As for "Planets Of The Universe," I have to admit that I'm very glad the song never saw the light of day until 'TISL,' as we wouldn't have gotten the new verses Stevie wrote for it... which are brilliant and integral to the song's strength, IMO. |
I would have preferred Sorcerer as a BN song, too.
I also preferred the FM version of Think About It. Silver Springs should have been on Rumours, without a doubt. Smile at You should have been released on Mirage. Time has softened it a bit, IMO. I like Planets, but would have liked to seen something released on Rumours or Tusk. I guess I just think that Stevie really sings her heart out when she records the song around the time she wrote it. That is probably why I like the original demos of the above songs better than the released versions. More passionate. |
