Best Mac Bridge

I was listening to Gypsy the other day...when it dawned on me... In my opinion, that song has the best bridge of nearly any Fleetwood Mac song. It reaches to new heights, and is so intense. It's just perfect...the voice, the melody, the instrumentation. ANYWAY.. I was wondering what other Mac songs you all thought had superb bridges (and to be technically correct, a repeated instrumental verse doesn't count... .) Weigh in with your thoughts, as I'd love to read them.

I must be psychic, because I was going to post this on the Stevie board today.
I love the bridges on Gypsy & Seven Wonders. I'll need to think about Lindsey & Christine ones.
(For her solo, I love the bridges on Nightbird, Blue Lamp and Think about It, but not on One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star.)

ok, call me stupid, but what's a bridge:confused:

if we can pick one for each of them... then Chris definitely has it down on "as long as you follow" and "wish you were here"... Lindsey's songs usually don't have a bridge (he's more of the instrumental-solo-over-a-verse kind of guy)... but I suppose "eyes of the world" starts off with a bridge that's really great (and repeats it later) .. but Pachabel wrote half of that one.

If I recall correctly, David is a big fan of the bridge in Only Over You. :wavey:
For me, I'm gonna cheat and go Down On Rodeo. I know it hasn't been released yet, but it's my darn favourite bridge. Shuffle Riff too.
Oh and Big Love.
I wake up...alone with it all.... I wake up, but only to fall.."

Oh and Hawkeye: the bridge is a part of the song that comes about 3/4 of the way through. It often has a different key, or is often just instrumental. It sort of breaks the song up, and leads into either the last verse or the chorus for outro.

On the other hand... that's not a bridge..

Well, if demos count, then I'll say (once again) that Lady from the Mountain has my favorite bridge. I love Sanctuary's, too.

I love the bridge on "Love Shines"...("after all the reckoning...") and "In the Back of My Mind" and , of course. "Gypsy". I'm sure others will come to mind soon...

Lindsey's my guy....

...so for me, it has to be the "unplugged" Big Love. I agree that Gypsy is right there, too.

Think About It is also one of my favorite bridges, too! Always have loved it.

i can't think of a truer Fleetwood Mac moment than the bridge on Oh Daddy.
The guitar instrumental mixed with the Lindsey backing vocals are unbelievably gorgeous.
I used to skip over this song in the 70's. It was the only song I didn't like on Rumours.

Now it's my favorite Chris song and one of the best tracks on Rumours. With headphones on or excellent speakers, it gives me the chills.

Now I skip over Don't Stop. It's been the only Fleetwood Mac song I've never liked for over 25 years.

I've always loved the bridges on "Freedom," and "In The Back Of My Mind," especially.

squealy 06-29-2003 04:10 PM

Well Lindsey must like the bridge from "Bleed to Love Her" a lot, as he recycled it from "You Do or You Don't."

darklinensuit 06-29-2003 09:09 PM

I agree with Freedom. I love how the bridge fits in perfectly with the rest of the song. (And it has already been established that I'm the only poster who thinks it's a better song than Fall from Grace.:)

I guess I'm alone on this, but Big Love is my favorite.

DownOnRodeo 06-30-2003 07:50 AM

You're not alone, Siri!
